Propane Regulator Cover

I had to change the auto changeover propane regulator. I used a different brand than the original. The old one had a white plastic cover snapped over it and it doesn't fit on the new regulator. I think that cover is just for looks and I don't really need it do I?

Yeah, the one that failed was on my 6 month old TT. However, the regulator didn't actually fail. One of the brass fittings that the pigtail connects to just broke off. I smelled propane, sprayed the fittings with soapy water and found the bubbles. I just barely touched the fitting with my bare hands and it broke off flush with the regulator housing. I was afraid to try to use an easy out or drill for fear of getting metal chips inside the regulator. $45 and I got a new one and back in business.

If I get bored one day I may try to get the fitting remnant out.

I don't have the large dual bottle cover shown above. I had to remove that when I installed a Stromberg-Carlson cargo rack to mount my Honda eu3000is generator.

LP Reg cover is cosmetic---nice to have but not necessary

Large screened vent should be pointed downwards so that rain/snow etc. doesn't get in.

With a propane cylinder cover in place reg is protected anyway.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

I wouldn't worry about it...especially if your tanks and regulator are inside a cover already.

I would make sure I had when if the regulator is exposed to the weather.
