Hi, husband retiring this month age 61 so too young for Midicaid. I am 53. We are full time travelers, no sticks n bricks with South Dakota residency. Husband is keen on Zion Health share but I am nervous, I would prefer to stick to a regular and recognized health insurance company. The Neal Taylor Nature Center located at Cachuma Lake in the hills above Santa Barbara, CA is looking for a single volunteer or a volunteer couple. We need someone, preferably starting in May 2024 and staying through November 2024. This is a lovely time of year to be in this area. The volunteer(s) will be working with a fun group of other volunteers in the Nature Center and duties will include assisting with greeting visitors and children's groups to the Nature Center, attending to a small gift shop, light duty helping to keep the Nature Center dusted and vacuumed, and computer work. Computer skills are a big plus. In exchange for volunteering an average of 20 hours a week, a full hookup RV site (electric, water, sewer) is provided in a nice RV park just steps away from the Nature Center. Hours are somewhat flexible but revolve around the Center's 10AM-4PM Wednesday-Saturday, 10 AM- 2PM Sunday schedule. The Cachuma Lake Recreation Area is a short 20 minute drive to Santa Barbara, 10 minutes to Santa Ynez and the start of the valley wine country. Hi all y'all! I’m finally starting my life’s next chapter. I just purchased this RV yesterday, by June it will be my new home. I didn’t pay much for it (the truth is I couldn’t afford to pay much). Fortunately, starting at the age of 10 with bicycles, I have 55 years’ experience fixing things, to the point where it’s both a blessing and a curse. Anyhow, my first step is to make it liveable and get both air conditioners running reliably before hell, I mean summer, arrives here in Texas. It has 58K on it and runs good enough, however before I start traveling, I’m going to give the entire rig a good going over so that it’s reliable, then I’ll worry about making it pretty. We are in the Kentucky Dam Village Campground in Calvert City, KY and are in need of a mobile service technician. We have contacted the only one we could find and due to a misunderstanding in communication we don't think he will come to our assistance. We think it is the alternator that needs to be replaced. We are in a gas Class A. Have found some who will service diesel MH but can not help us. Can anyone give us a suggestion? We're in Putnam County FL on a relative's property but found out after we moved in that I was misreading the county zoning ordinances and we really aren't permitted to live here full-time. I've not found any FL counties that allow living full-time on your own property except a rumor that Taylor County allows up to four on one lot. I need to call them to find out. A little background: we made a quick decision to RV full time. House sold MUCH faster than we thought. I have had 2 surgeries since we sold 1 1/2 yrs ago and am having another surgery June 7. In the last 1 1/2 yrs we have rented a room from our good friend and our renter's insurance covered the storage unit. Had planned on clearing them out this summer but that's not going to happen. SO...my question....do any of you full timers have storage units and if so, how do you insure them...or do you? What is the typical process for getting warranty service, or non-warranty service, while living in your RV full time? I have a 2 year warranty on my Jayco trailer and I am at almost 6 months. There are a lot of small items and some bigger items that need service and I think they are covered by warranty. I called the local Camping World and I spoke to someone in service. When I told them I am living in my trailer they said that if I come in early some day, about 9 AM, they will review all my items that day and I can take the trailer home in the afternoon. They will then contact Jayco and get approval and order parts. Then when the parts are ready they will contact me and I will come back in for an appointment. How long it takes then depends on what needs to be done. I might have to get a hotel room for a night or more, or maybe not. Do a lot of dealers work like that? I'm living in a trailer in North Carolina for the summer (nice weather) and I plan to go back to South Texas for the winter. The idea occurred to me that it would be possible to have one trailer in the north and one in the south and commute between them. The advantage is I wouldn't need an expensive gas guzzling truck and I wouldn't need to spend $1,000 in gas twice a year to make the trek pulling a trailer. The biggest downside is I wouldn't be able to stay in state parks in my trailer, but I could rent a cabin here and there. With what I save on gas and truck cost and trailer cost I would still come out ahead. I say trailer cost would be less because I could buy 2 older trailers for less than I spent on my new Jayco. I wouldn't be as worried about the road condition of the trailer because I wouldn't be pulling it across country and I wouldn't need an A/C much if I play my cards right. I would pay a little in storage fees all year long, but I think I'm still ahead in cost. So is this done much and are there other problems I'm not considering? ... View more
