GoodSams Early Renewal $50 Gift Certificates

Good Sam has a early renewal offer going on which provides $50 of gift certificates for renewing up to five months before your card expires. This is a fantastic offer but one needs to understand the term of the certificates. They are issued as two $25 certificates that cannot be used on line and can only be used in store. They cannot be used together except for the one day where the one certificate expires and the other goes into affect. Also both need to be utilized within two months of when they are received. The point that I am making is this is a great offer if you can visit a store two times within the two months of when you receive your certificates and they cannot be used on line even though you could renew your card on line. Like I say it is a fantastic offer but I just want everybody to understand the terms of the promotion.

I think this is how capitalism is supposed to work, I like it. If socialism ever takes hold, we won't need to worry about buying things on line or in stores.

Had a friend that once found a 20 dollar bill in the road. He complained all day that it wasn't a 50.

Hum, I wonder if any other businesses have a large debt load. Especially one that is expanding at the rate that CW is expanding.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.

For what it's worth: A little bird told me that Camping World (with a worse than 100/1 debt/equity ratio) may be having some severe financial issues in the near future so, . . . . . beware of entering into any long term service contracts with them.

GS clearly explains the offer. The complainers didn’t read the terms.
They didn’t clearly the terms to me. They didn’t explain the terms at all to me. They just told me tat I was getting merchandise certificates and nothing else. The first time I learned the terms was after they had taken my money and after I got home and read the certificates that they had sold me. If ever there was a scam, this qualifies. I will bet you that 90% of people do not get what they were led to believe they would get.

P.S. I live over 100 miles from the nearest Camping World so using the certificates under the circumstances required is very unlikely. CW knows that because they have my address in their computer. There is no way I was going to be able to use these “benefits”.

Not a scam. Read my earlier post about how to use the certificates with an online purchase.

^^^ Exactly. It's an offer - if you choose not to take advantage of the offer then so be it. If you don't like the terms and conditions then don't do it. It's not like anyone is MAKING you do it.

Geez...:S
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

Or, you could NOT accept this offer, renew like you know you are going to do and NOT get the bonus. Even if you think CW is over priced, most of us need what they sell from time to time. I just spent $120 there the other day and I would have loved to have gotten $25 off (or made 2 trips and saved $50). Luckily, I am a life member so my annual savings are even better.

I agree. It's amazing how easily some people can be suckered into making multiple trips to an overpriced store.
If they were concerned about helping their customers, the gift cards could be used online.

The real issue is not that it may be a value for some, but the way it is marketed and applied. One could easily assume that they would get a$50 gift certificate. But in reality, it is two $25 gift certificates that must be used separately at different times. The ploy is to get the customer back in the store twice where he will hopefully buy more than if he went just once, or he would not use one or even both of the certificates, but spent money just to get the certificates.

This shows Camping World's lack of respect for their customer which is displayed over and over.

I took advantage of the offer on May 2nd and got two $25 certificates in the mail about a week later. One was good May 7th thru June 6th, and the other was good July 7th thru August 6th.

I used one right away for an ONLINE purchase. I called camping world and they said I could write the certificate number on a copy of the ONLINE order receipt and mail it to: Camping World, PO Box 90017, Bowling Green, Kentucky, 42102-9017. I did this and about 10 days later a $25 credit was applied to the credit card that I had used.

I will use the 2nd certificate for another ONLINE order as soon as it becomes active.

When I renewed I was in a CW store and the cashier gave me the following options:

(1) Renew for 1 year for $25 or

(2) Renew for 2 years for $50 and get one $25 gift certificate or

(3) Renew for 3 years for $75 and get two $25 gift certificates.

Guess I must be one of those people who has a few brain cells left since I looked at this opportunity as a "no brainer". 🙂

It's amazing how some people can complaint about anything. If you don't want to follow a few simple rules, you need not apply. However, many of us live close to a Camping World store and just like any other retailer, some items are reasonably priced and others not so much. Considering the certificates do not cost anything, I see it as a good deal and say THANKS to the OP.

And others of us avoid that place like the plague. They have nothing I need right now that I can not find at another retailer.

I'm really not seeing where this is a great offer? GS will gladly take your money online but, they will not honor their own gift cards from a member online?

How is an offer that makes you jump over numerous hurdles and through hoops fantastic?
Most people would spend that much in fuel getting to a CW store to use a coupon on something that is overpriced originally.

It's like a grocery chain that inflates its grocery prices, then gives you a discount on fuel. Do the math and find you're actually paying more for the fuel than elsewhere.

But it works well as stupid people vastly outnumber those with a few brain cells.
