Toyo 18" tire with over 4k lb rating

I was just scanning tire specs and found a tire that would prevent a lot of overweight rigs due to tire limitations.
Toyo Open County AT2 in 285 or 295 18" is rated for 4080 lbs and is 10 ply. This probably comes close to some 19.5"
Anyone have these tires and if so, how do they work?
Any other non 19.5" out there with a similiar rating?
More importanty, what wheels are rated this high?

Is that Dick's Brother?

I believe it's his son. This article mentions how Tom ran Cepek up until they went CH11. Cepek CH11 1999

Guessing after MT took over Cepek Tom went off on his own.

I think a dually is still going to give you more carrying capacity. These toyo's are really just an alternative to those that may be looking into 19.5's but don't quite need the capacity they offer. Or they don't want the rougher ride/stress on truck components from a heavier tire. For offroad use the toyo A/T or M/T would be an excellent choice.

Replaced factory Michelin 265/70R/18 with Toyo M/S 275/70R/18 (medium aggressive treads). Driven 10k - 90% street & highway, 10% soft & packed snow, ice, & some wet, gnarly mud this winter - great traction & stopping. Really impressed with how they grabbed bare rock going up and down washed out creek beds down below Moab last fall - no spinning at all. No loss of mpg, pretty quiet @ 70 on highways - way better than those factory Michelin's … by the way, anyone want those Michelin's - they're wasting away in storage ...

+1 for the Toyo MTs.
Had a set on the truck hauling that big pig AF camper up the Alcan and all over AK. McCarthy Rd and Denali Hwy included, dry river beds and lotsa frost heaves. They performed well, no issues on the OE 17" Dodge rims.

I have the MT version. Size details in my signature. The tires are great and carry my 4200lb loaded camper with no squat on some of the roughest gravel roads imaginable. I have 90,000km on them and plan on replacing them in the fall which will probably be 100k km. 25000km with camper on. Never had one issue with tire or wheels.

Highest rated 18" wheels I've ever found were made by Tom Cepek of GT/Hummer in an 8x6.5 bolt pattern. Not sure if he still makes them or not. These will only fit on older GMC and Dodge trucks (does Dodge still use 8x6.5 today?). He also made 17"x8.5" wheels rated at 4500 lbs too, I have a set of these though am taking them off to go back to 16" wheels. For 17" tires there's the Nitto Dura Grappler 285/75r17 rated at 3970 and the Toyo MT 295/70r17 also rated at 3970, just shy of 4K. The wheels were expensive though, similar to 19.5s

Yes, I run them. 285/75-18 at2. '05 f350.
Yes, they are rated for more than the wheels. Given a choice between a wheel stronger than a tire, or a tire stronger than the wheel, I go with a stronger tire every time... 😉

As far as the tire goes, I like them a lot. Slightly louder than I expected but still quiet with the windows up. They track well, made in the USA, and from what I can tell so far they are tough. If you are regularly going to push them weight wise though, a 19.5 will be safer and probably wear a lot longer. But for an all around tire on a stock size wheel they are hard to beat.
