Decided on a truck after MANY months.

After many months of research, weighing pros and cons and some hands on,finally decided on a truck.
I simply just needed a tow vehicle and put less than 5K a year on truck.

Not a truck basher here, like them all and have owned 1-Ford, 5-Chevys and 1-Ram.

At the end of the day I simply couldn't turn away from Ford F250 7.3 with 10spd auto.
We pull a 30ft trailer +1000 Tounge and scaled at 7350.

Should be a joy.

google rv.net photo posting, a 90 yo can post a pic 🙂 A new truck, especially a new Ford is worth learning to post a pic. This is very easy. If you have a pic it will almost do everything for you, including the size pic.

I’m sure this will be a great powertrain for you OP.

Ford finally followed the simplicity of the GM LS engine line which is bulletproof.

2020 F-350 7.3L V8 with 750 miles on the ODO.

Just pulled a 125 mile round trip mostly hills with 36' trailer (10,000# fully loaded) and got 7.6 MPG....this was the same as my 2015 6.2L V8.

Empty the new truck is getting 13.8 MPG around town, 90% stop and go traffic.

Towing is a breeze with the 10 speed, glad I got the larger 7.3L

When I first saw your post about "7.3 with 10spd auto" I thought wow, this guy bought a pre-2004 7.3L PowerStroke that's been modified with a newer transmission. :S I keep forgetting about the Godzilla 7.3L gas engine. If you're not driving that much and just need the towing capacity this will do everything you need.

Proof that Ford's marketing department has been successful in associating the new engine with the much loved 7.3 Diesel.

That said, looks like the OP made a good choice and no reason to believe it won't serve him well for many years.

I just picked up a 2020 f250 as well with the 7.3. Haven’t towed yet but that will be it’s primary purpose. We put less than 3000 miles a year on our truck so plan on having this for a long time. The truck is total overkill for our current TT (27’ long and 5900 lbs loaded up and ready to camp.) But we want to upgrade soon. Not necessarily a longer trailer but better quality and larger tanks (for boondocking). Trailers we are looking at will be in the 8K to 10K range. Enjoy your new truck.

I'm very interested in hearing reports on the new 7.3. I'll be in the market when the 3rd year power bump comes on line.
