Comfortable Jacknknife sofa

I want to replace my sofa bed with a Jackknife.
The shallower dimensions will fit our needs much better than the sleeper so I don't want to be convinced to keep it.
I just want one that is comfortable to sit in, prefer ultra leather but not a deal breaker.
Anyone have a nice one they took out and are wanting out of their garage within distance of me?
Or have a place to get one within driving distance of me also.
Thanks,

How do you hide the slide with futon?

Bumpy....

No...we found ours at Sam's for half this price... not
sure how that happened.... as I was loading the box in
the truck bed another couple came running up and wanted
to know if I got the "last one"... informed them that
all that was left was the floor model. They said they
found it at this store by searching inventory on line
for that particular futon.... I was unaware of that capa-
bility. Glad I bought it when I saw it... seemed reasonable
at the time... a good deal, not a great deal... how little
did I know....

the family fights over who gets to recline on it... Mom trumps.

Bumpy,

This link is almost exactly like what we purchased ...but
ours was 1/2 this price..6 months ago. The in store versions
moved very quickly.

Money was saved as this does not have RV any where in the product
title. Ours came with 3 overstuffed color matched pillows. Comfy.
Not sure why the price variance.... end storage is nice for remotes/
magazines. Sofa and bed config...very comfortable.

I was thinking about a futon myself. much better idea than a jack knife IMHO.

ADUS,

(just another option).

Not to be contrarian...but have you considered a Futon.
We pulled our jackknife sofa out, replaced it with a Futon
purchased at Sam's... well built, perfect sized , color
coordinated to match the interior, long enough for better
then 6 ft. teenager, and comfortable. No regrets. These are
not your 60's hippie futons anymore. Works for us. Open or
slider in can still pass thru without problems.

If I could ever learn the secret handshake for posting a
photo on here I would show you... multiple attempts , escapes
my feeble skillset. At any rate... check out some of better
quality ones...might be surprised.

I haven't found one, the seating area is always too deep, forcing me to slouch. But most sofas and easy chairs are like that today too, so maybe slouching is the new way of siiting.

You might consider building a gaucho, that can be custom fit if custom built, and comfort then depends on quality of the cushions you have made.

I don't care how expensive, fancy leather, etc. a jack knife sofa is. if it has buttons, welting, dips, bumps, creases, etc. it will NOT be comfortable to sleep on. that is the advantage of the magic sofa bed from bradd and hall. gives a smooth flat surface to sleep on.

Unfortunately, when the sofa is folded down into a bed, it leaves a gap of about 8-10" between the wall and the edge of the sofa, just enough room for a child to fall down into. To make matters worse, there is an outside access door right there under the sofa to get to the storage under the sofa from the outside.

I got a kick out of this post. Do you have to go outside and retrieve the kid via the outside compartment door to put him back in bed? ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜‰

No, I haven't had to do that yet. But I'll keep that in mind just in case the opportunity arises.:)

In our first Class C, we had the inside remodeled by taking out the dinette and replacing it with an ultra leather jackknife sofa. It was VERY comfortable. A lot of the jackknives in the RV's that you buy are not of a high quality and are therefore are very uncomfortable. We were able to buy the length we needed and it fit perfect. It was made by steelcase I believe.

As for the jacknife sofa, we are replacing ours with a recliner and I would not give that sofa to my worst enemy as it's brutally uncomfortable.
