gas mileage

ihave a 2005 pace arrow 37a and must say that the gas mileage is very bad,like 5mpg, although it runs fine and pulls the grades very easily, with no strain,is this about right?I It has aworkhorse engine w22. thank you.

Check that your spark plug gaps are set at .060 and maybe replacing your O2 sensors. If you hook a OBDII gauge while you are driving you can pin point any problems. As a basic, your air/fuel ratio should be 14.6-14.7 after the engine is warmed up and on a level cruise.

We just finished a 1840 mile trip, averaged 10.4 mpg.We are happy with that.
We traveled I-35 from San Marcos, Texas to Topeka, Kansas then on US highway's to Shenandoah, IA then back all Interstate. Speed 60-65 mph. I think we collected some 40,000 bugs, large and small.

Mountain driving, windy days, excess speed and driving habits all affect what we get, but flat land, nice day and 55 - 58 mph in a 36' coach with V-10 we get 8-10 mpg, not using dash A/C. Proper tire inflation for your load would be another thing to check.

He said it's a 2005 W22 chassis which would be the 8.1 (496). May be time for new plugs and possibly wires.
