For some reason the onboard pump works to transport water inside the coach, but won't when trying to use the suction port to fill the water tank from a non pressurized system. Anything I could check to troubleshoot? I maybe doing it wrong...been known to happen:o
Scondly, If I use a portable pump attached to a drill will this fill the tank if set on tank fill on the service panel?
Inquiring mind needs to know...thanks

AS Dutch stated, Also if no wet spots in the compartment then you do not have a leak, just plumb wrong.

If you can access where the overflow/vent exits the tank, replacing the elbow with a'T' and adding a small vacuum breaker to the top will stop the siphoning.

taking it to a shop, they want to pull the tank, etc...not cheap especially when dry camping is not the norm.

I use a 12v marine pump. I wired a switch to turn on and off and wires clip onto my 12v house batteries. Run a short piece of hose into 5 gallon container and regular water hose to fill location switch to fill tank or connect to city water. Takes just a couple minutes to put in 5 gallons. Just used this week

Don't you have a regular gravity fill where you use a hose to fill the FW tank? That would work with a drill powered pump.

Nope...No gravity fill.

No gravity fill on my new 5’er either. With 40 gallons useable I needed a way to add more.

I cut an older 25-ft hose in half, added fittings from Ace Hardware, found a 12-v pump on Amazon and added a length of wiring and a plug that fits the solar panel plug. Hooked up to the city water input, with valves set correctly, it’ll transfer a 6-gl jug to the tank in a couple of minutes.

I’m wondering where you’re losing your water?

What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

Ihave always had a siphoning effect while driving down the road, so depending on distance and starting with a full tank, I end up losing anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 tank...so need to fill when we get there and be there for a few days...

I will check this out...again..I have done it before years ago...but memory is not as good...:h

Suggest a 2nd pump for the transfer. Several kinds out there or you can just use another RV pump not that expensive.

thanks...I will try a small one...as I don't boondockl often

Yes it will suck water from a say 5 gal can to your tank. Have done it in the past when we had a tank issue and needed to get water back in the system but no city pressure line.

thanks...I will try this
