DH and I are planning on doing a long extended trip down to TX...planning on taking a couple of cruises out of TX-Galveston/Houston area.:? We need suggestion where we can *just* park the trailer and possibly stay before/after cruises and then leave our camper there. We could park it or if a great campground/state park, etc. has an area to park with us staying before/after while we are cruising that would be Great. We really love the TX area and want to spend more time in the state parks camping there during the fall.

Please, full timers---give us some suggestions. We are new at this and want to enjoy our time on the cruises and know our trailer is safe while we are on the 'high seas'.

Thanks in advance!
HAPPY CAMPING!!

I had a similar need with Las Vegas a month back- we were flying back to our hometown for 2 weeks. Ultimately, our options came down to 3 things:

1) Getting a campsite and just leaving the camper parked there (benefit: can leave camper plugged into electric; con: cost)
2) Finding a storage facility (benefit: cost; con: no electricity)
3) Parking it at the airport parking lot (benefit: convenience; con: cost, but still cheaper than a campground)

Your options will be similar- just change "airport" to "cruise terminal".

:?Does Jamaica Beach RV Resort have an 'overflow' parking area where we could just park our camper when we do not need a campsite?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Would love to get more.

Stayed at Jamaica Beach RV Resort for a month back in 2012. The owners were so nice they drove us to the ship, and picked us up a week later on their way to/from church (Sunday to Sunday.) From cruise port to MH door. They kept an eye on our rig while we were gone also. ๐Ÿ™‚

Don't know if Dora and her husband still will do that, but you might want to send them an e-mail and ask. Spending those other three weeks on Galveston Island was easy to do. Reason we spent a month was to keep the daily cost down and try to stay in budget. :R

Back south/west corner of park. They've gotten much bigger since 2012.

Thereโ€™s no fool, like an old fool.

We rented a space at Jamaica Beach RV Resort for 2 weeks (about $400). Did a 7 day Caribbean cruise and parked TV at cruise ship port was about $115. We had no problems with theft. Need 30 ft of sewer hose in sites. We did store water hose in bay while cruising. BTW park is about 30 min drive from cruise ship terminal.

Just came back from a 21 day cruise. What we did since we are winter Texans and stay in Rockport we came down a month earlier than we usually do and setup the RV at our site and then drove back up to Galveston and stayed overnight at the Inn at the Waterpark for $109. This included Continental breakfast, free parking for the 21 days and free shuttle to and from the cruise terminal.
I've been to all 50 States but my RV hasn't.
