Wooded Campgrounds for TTs

I am about to purchase a 29 foot TT (33 foot back to hitch) and ask for advise about finding wooded overnight parks, with or without amenities, near sites of interest that accommodate overall lengths (TT + tow vehicle) of 53 feet. Grew up camping in the US in a pop-up and enjoyed both National and State parks, but it seems very few of these accept TT/tow vehicle lengths > 35 feet. Looking to mostly tour from the Mid-West throughout the West. Resources and/or specific recommendations welcome. Thanks for any ideas or recommendations.

try rvparky, com and just plug in the city/state you want and how many miles out from there you are willing to stay. There are plenty of parks both public and private that are wooded.

You should be fine. Granted , it might take a bit to back in but you will fit as stated above. You probably will have to disconect the TT, but if your planning on sightseeing anyway, you were going to do that. My TT when expanded is roughly 32 feet. It fits in most sights by me in the north east. Im sure qhere you are is similer.

Typically you don't need the site to accommodate the full length of the trailer and the tow vehicle--just the length of the trailer, with the tow vehicle parked beside it. Yes, you do have to unhook the trailer to do this. I don't think it would be too much of an issue finding sites that are suitable for that.

Plenty of wooded state parks here in Michigan with room for big rigs if you're good at driving / parking you rig. The sites are large but it can take some impressive skills to get a long rig to fit.

22' rule is because of the tree root systems. A ranger up in Big Sur clued me in on that. Just about every NP and state park in California would say no to 33'. Most private campgrounds (parking lots) allow up to 50' rigs. Yosemite is good for just about anything made.

Google California State Parks trailer/RV limits. Many accept 35+.
