Nevada Hwy 93 Wells to Jackpot

Is there any dispersed camping off Hwy 93 between I-80 and the Idaho state line? Travelling up that direction in June and looking for a spot to pull in and spend the night.

If you want to stay around Jackpot, here's where we stayed and here are my notes. The price is probably higher now:

Hwy. 93. 20 mi. N. of Jackpot, NV. At Rogerson & the Sinclair Station, take the Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir Dam Rd. west for 10 mi. Itโ€™s paved. Just before the Dam on the left is entrance to Lud Drexler BLM Park. We stayed in the campground. Very quiet, spacious sites. Clean, smell-free chemical toilets, table, firepit, grill. Dump station. Water wasnโ€™t turned on yet. Beautiful view of lake & distant snow-covered mtns. $5 or $2.50 w/Golden Age. Just down from the campground is free boondocking at the waterโ€™s edge but a lot of fishermen used it & it was busy with traffic. N42 12.460 W114 43.888

Thanks for the info. I will keep it in mind for future use because I know we will not be going further than Jackpot. With 2 kids, The 520 miles to Jackpot is about what they will be able to take before driving my wife and I crazy with the "I'm tired of sitting here" talk.

36+ miles north of Wells, just past mile marker 111 is Oneil Basin road.
Its on the left/west side of the highway. There is room to overnight by the fence.
The road is gravel, but is well maintained.
Boies reservoir is 8 miles down the road and is a nice place to camp, and the fishing is normally pretty good too.

I saw that a couple days ago. Read there was some primitive camping at the reservoir. Depending on time of day, we just might head into Jackpot and spend the night, but wouldn't mind checking out Boies. It will be one of those last minute decisions I suppose.

About 30 miles north of Wells on Hwy 93 between MM 103-110 are some paved pull-outs.

You can stop almost anywhere you want along 93 going north of Wells. I would go down any road you see that you are comfortable driving on and park. There are some areas along the highway also.

Not boondocking, but Angel Lake NFS CG about 10 or so miles south of Wells is up in the mountains and gorgeous.

Right off I-70 at the Deeth/Starr Valley exit (333), on the north side of the highway is a large parking area where one could overnight. Further on at the Beverly Hills exit (348) there's a turnaround about 1/4 mile from the highway where one could park. Both of these would definitely have some traffic noise.

The problem with finding spots north of Wells is that much of the land was railroad land grants and thus a checkerboard of private and BLM land for 20 or more miles north of Wells.

South of Wells where alt93 splits away from 93, there's a large highway maintenance yard. We usually stop there to stretch our legs and have a snack. I think you could overnight there.

You couldn't pay me to spend another night in Wells, NV!!! It is Grand Central Station for freight trains and they run all night long, laying on those horns at every intersection. Grab some stout coffee at a truck stop and do the other 68 miles to Jackpot or find a spot miles before Wells!!

Yea....Might have to stop in Wells. Not a fan of truck stops except for getting fuel. Was hoping for some hidden gem just off the highway.

Doesn't look like much. Perhaps you better spend the night with the truckers in Wells.

Yea they do, but was hoping to not have to go that far. That would be a 520 mile drive in one day. Original plan was just to stop in Elko at the Walmart parking lot for the night, but I know we could push further. Don't really want to head to Jackpot if we didn't have to. Lots of open space off hwy 93, but just not sure if its all private property or BLM. Would like to get 10-30 miles past Wells if there would be a spot. Don't need a campground, just some legal land to hang the hat for the night.

If you only want to go 10-30 miles past Wells, you might as well just stay at the back of one of the truck stop lots in Wells. I also think there is a large empty dirt lot in Wells across from a truck stop on 93 that I have seen a few RV's at.
