Taughannock Falls State Park has a nice trail thru the gorge to the falls and campsites on the lake. It's a bit north of Ithaca on Cayuga Lake. Clute Park is in the town of Watkins Glen, across the street is the lakefront part of the park. It's is an easy walk to stores/restaurants.

Sampson on Seneca/Cayuga on Cayuga
Cayuga is an older Park lower section is shaded. Has swimming beach and boat launch. Lower section is older and tighter.
Upper section more open better suited to larger rigs.
Sampson is massive. Sites more open. Electric is kind of randomly located. You may need you extension for some sites. I prefer Sampson just for location, Located halfway down the eastern shore of Seneca is excellent for exploring the region, good roads centrally located. Geneva 20 miles north is becoming known as a foody destination, you have the wineries and now brewers, distillers and cider houses. Watkins Glen Track is twenty miles south, usually have some activety happening on weekends.
Ithaca with Cornell University is about 45 miles south east,an easy scenic drive.Love people watching on the commons. Great restaurants.
There is an outlet mall in Waterloo about30 miles north and a Casino in Magee the same distance

There are 3 in Watkins Glen. 1st being right next door to Wal-Mart and near the lake. 2nd. Is Watkins Glen SP, near the gorge, but not on a lake, close, but not on it (same lake as WM CG). 3rd is WG KOA. 5 miles from town and tho it offers some very nice things (best being an indoor heated pool), they are pricey. Big rig friendly.

Sampson SP, a former Navy induction military camp. (I've been told it has a nice museum)
On Seneca Lake.
Near Finger Lakes wine and cheese trails.

FYI Letchworth SP has been rated one of the top SP in the country!
But it us not on a lake, it is on the Genesee River.

Letchworth is a beautiful park; the scenery is easily up to national park standards in my opinion. I also quite enjoyed Watkin's Glen (no lake there, but a river gorge to walk through). The state park campgrounds, as you probably know, are nice but fairly rustic and don't have lots of fancy amenitites.

Check out Letchworth State Park. No lake, but some great waterfalls & scenery.

The KOA we stayed at years ago was nice. Canidaugua or some other impossible name. But that was before the multiple KOA price hikes and the devaluing of the membership club. So it's probably very pricey now.
We were too far from Niagara for easy day trips.
