All-

We are beginning to look at places to take our annual family vacation. One of the places we are considering is Branson - Table Rock Lake- Silver Dollar City. We like water sports and have kayaks so Table Rock Lake really interest us. We like to fish, swim and relax! For those of you who have been to that area or live there, what campgrounds do you recommend that is on the water but yet close to all the attractions of Branson? Your help will be greatly appreciated!!

We always went to Table Rock to water ski. Cape Fair is where we always went, a little less crowded with water front sites, about 30-45 minutes from Branson. Cape Fair Marina has , or had, a great little restaurant right on the water. It's been a few years since we have been there since we sold the boat.

Take a look at Mill creek COE campground. Electric and water sites. Many right on Table rock lake. All blacktop or concrete sites with nice spacing. The only negative would be it is 13 miles to Silver Dollar City but going against the traffic. If lack of crowds and a camping experience is important this might be a good fit.

We did Branson on the Big Adventure. Stayed at Shenanigans at the end of the strip. Funky little place, terraced into a valley. This was in April so it wasn't particularly crowded. I found Branson to be "eclectic". We took day trips to Table Rock and the train tour.

If we go back, I'd do Branson Lakeside RV Park. It's close to downtown (old Branson) and level. Less traffic getting there.

Branson last year. Once was enough for us and we wonโ€™t be returning. No big names, just โ€œTributeโ€ shows which was a disappointment.

Our favorite โ€œattractionโ€ was the College of the Ozarks campus (โ€œHard Work Uโ€) in Branson. Well worth a visit, and the huge log restaurant/hotel was very impressive.

As I moved down to the Branson area this past may, I find it a very interesting city to live near. Yes there is alot of traffic but thats true with any tourest area. Alot depends on the age of your kids. There are many family activities to do while in Branson. I think Branson is the gokart and mini golf capital of the world.

Anyway as for camping there are three lakes Table Rock, Taneycomo, and Bullshoals. Table rock closer to Branson Taneycome down stream and Bullshoals further down streem. As for kayaks the last two lakes would be better for. Most of the RV parks in the Branson Area proper are not by or on the lake. Table Rock lake state park is a good one. About one hour drive from Branson is River Run campground, its a COE park on Bull Shoals lake. There is so much to do in Branson I would look into the RV parks in the area. Wilderness Campground is tied to Silvar Dollar city. The sites are tight (but then all here are) however they have a shuttle to Silvar Dollar City.

Good Luck and Enjoy Branson

That would not be a vacation to me.. But, each to their own. ๐Ÿ˜‰

All depends on what your looking for! I would go again today and see some of the same show's over again. I would agree, it might not float everyone's boat to keep busy with show's but when you are in an Entertainment location as Branson...you do what the natives do. If I was sitting in the middle of no where, then relaxing at the RV would be in order but not there. Besides, there are so may bargains to be had...it ends up being very, very affordable to do. IMHO

Some RV club friends who go to the area frequently like Table Rock State Park or some of the Corps of Engineers campgrounds in the area (where you are most likely to find waterfront sites, if those sites are not underwater). However, being on the reservoirs means not being in town, or near the theaters, so it all depends on why you are going to Branson. I'm not big on Branson, as I can get the lakefront camping experience in less crowded places 15-30 miles from home, and I've moved on from wanting the crowded theme park or amusement park experience after being detailed a VIP escort for visits to WDW the first two years it was open. When I revisit WDW from time to time, I stay on the property and use the transportation system, while Branson does not offer an equivalent, just heavy traffic and crowded parking.

We are big fans of Branson as we are only 3 hrs. out. I agree the congestion can be hard to take. We are returning spring of 2018 & we are planning to stay about 30 minutes out at Ozarks Luxury RV Resort. Can't give a reference yet though.

Look at Table Rock State Park. You should be able to reserve what you want if you do it in Jan. This puts you close to Silver Dollar City, which is a good full day of activity. Branson will be about 10 minutes away, and if you go during June through Aug. it will be busy! For a family, there is something for everyone here. I highly recommend it! We've gone here off and on since 1983, Aug. of 2017 being our latest stay.

If you love traffic and crowds, head to Branson. You can get a better VC experience at Lake of the Ozarks for water sports and fishing. One time at Branson camping was enough for us, just my humble .02.

I Did it once too.
IMHO Certainly not on my list for fishing, sports and fun.

IMHO Boring, no real attractions other than the shows, roads are narrow crowded, found silver dollar city a complete waste of my time and money and the entertainers at the shows in Branson now are all retired no names.

CG I stayed at was very nice. I ended up just staying at the CG everyday relaxing for the week I was there just resting up for my next trip to somewhere more interesting.

Yet many other RV'ers still like to go there. :C

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,

I would not get a campground IN Branson. I stayed in one campground on table rock years back. used to fish that lake/bull shoals, etc. often.
