Looking for recommendations for an overnight stop somewhere in or near Boise. Free would be nice.

This isn't unusual in these Roads and Routes threads. They're typically shorter lived because the OPs are traveling (or soon to be traveling) and just post a quick question to view the immediate responses.

I would assume that the Boise stop has already come and gone.

Peel off on Blacks Cr Road just before you hit Boise. Just to the west there's plenty of BLM land to find a spot. Just south of the highway by Blacks Creek Res is probably where I'd shoot for if I just wanted a quick free overnight - maybe near the model plane strip.

Will you be on I-84? Don't know of much free along there. We do love to stay at Farewell Bend SP just over the border in OR. Nice sites near the river with W & E and showers for $26/night. Nice lawn area makes for a nice little oasis in the desert.

We've also stayed at Three Island Crossing SP near Glenns Ferry, ID. Nice sites, views of the river, etc. Water and electric with showers. Again, a big lawn with plenty of trees.

I can't help with the free, when we pass through Boise we usually stop at the Mountain Home RV Park in Mountain Home. Easy in & out and reasonable fee.

Inn America near the airport has a large, flat parking lot in the back. At the very back it is partitioned off for big rigs and RV's. I have no idea if they check to see if you are a guest or not, but every time I've stayed at this motel, there have only been a few rigs at night and they leave pretty early in the morning. Should work for an overnight stop if that's all you plan to do.
