I-610 Around Houston

We need to go north from Galveston to Arkansas. I saw I-610 which is NOT a toll road so am thinking that would be an okay route to take to get us past Houston. We will be traveling on a Saturday.

Anyone have any thoughts on that route?

Thanks

Additional Info: We are just going north from Galveston and want to connect with an Interstate. We can take the loop around Dallas and also around Kansas City. Other than that we seem to be doing a lot of zig zagging.

Since you are going to Arkansas, the best route would be to take I610 around to US 59 to Texarkana. This has far less congestion than I45 through town and is somewhat smoother. It does have a tall, steep bridge over the Ship Channel, but there is a slow climbing lane if you need it.

You didn't say where in Arkansas you are headed.
Have you considered taking the ferry over to Bolivar Peninsula than on up to Beaumont?
I've been to all 50 States but my RV hasn't.
