Canadian Propane Tank Recertification in Washington

My 10 y.o. 30# DOT propane tank needed recertification to be refilled. The quoted price I got in Lower Mainland BC was more or less like a new tank. I had it done a couple of times at both sides of border years ago IIRC the cost was insignificant. So I have it done in Washington state for $5 with a tank refill. They will charge $10 without a refill.

What it involves was a visual inspection, leak checking of the fitting and a new label says visual requalified. It's good for another 5 years. I know the recertification in Canada requires a new valve and it was no more than $20 years ago. I just wonder if this tank can be refilled in Canada again. Due to the cost saving of refilling in the states, most of my propane refilling was done south of border. Has anyone had similar experience?

I had mine done at Northwest Propane's Lynden location. They told me their Ferndale location is too busy for recertification. Anyway, both locations are about the same distance from the border.

Take it to one of the Indian casino's that refill them like Silver Reef casino in Ferndale. They will fill anything no matter how old or nasty looking and they're cheap - I get all my propane there.

When I refiled this summer the lady told me the tank would expire next year. For an extra $7 I should simply do a tank exchange. I did. I don't have to exchange it every time I go in, just get it refilled like normal.

OOPS...
On re-reading this post I see you're talking 30#
