That's awesome, just remember that "full size" trucks of 10-15 years ago were not the behemoths of "full size" trucks today, or something like that, or 36 years ago even.
Unnecessarily big trucks at unnecessarily high prices, for the paint and other supplies. Just bought a qt of red, BC/CC, for a truck cap and about pooped my pants.

Which is why you can buy drop ball mounts. The trailer does not care how much lift the truck has.

I sometimes wonder how many people who talk down about towing with a lifted truck actually ever have towed with a lifted truck….

Ya, I wish he was “more” interested than he is. He’s not a “gear head”, but has put in some work and learned a few things. I try to explain to both kids, the vast amount of money to be saved if they are capable of fixing their own _____ (fill in the blank, house, cars, whatever).
I was, as a kid, but not everyone is, as much as I value that skill set. But they’re learning. Still just kids.
Kudos to the neighbor boy. Even better that he made a Fummins!!

Yeah, truck don’t care. She’s stable as a billy goat. It’s too old and inefficient to make long trips (and the 320hp or so out of the vortec 454 lacks punch and guzzles gas compared to the diesel) but it pulls our 6klb boat on the freeway at speed no problem.
Doesn’t have the suspension to pull the toyhauler or the power to not be the last guy up the hill by 2022 standards, but have zero doubt it would drive straight down the road 1 hand on the wheel with the toyhauler too.
Paint prices are horrible. And red is always the most expensive. I bought a half pint of maroon metallic single stage, pre covid, for a project on the older boys car. PPG low end jobber paint. Was $60!
Fwiw, if you do any more painting, look into Tamco paint. I’m impressed with it on this truck.
It’s virtually mail order only but super high quality. I pulled a 30% off deal 2 Black Friday’s ago when I bought the materials for this truck but was only a shade over $1000 for everything including 2 gal primer, 1 gal chassis black, 1 gal primary base coat (1:1 so 2 gal sprayable), 1 qt secondary base, 2 gallons of clear (3gal sprayable) and all the reducer and activators and prep solvent.
And their service is exemplary.

I painted an old car for an elderly relative, using donated auto paint, applied mostly with a roller, and a brush where needed. Painted it outside, with a light breeze! She actually got a lot of compliments on the new paint job. It looked better than you are thinking! ![[emoticon]](https://forums.motorhome.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/tongue.gif "tongue") Tells you how bad that flaked peeling paint was to begin with!
