I did the stay in Silverton than ride the train down to Durango, afterwards take a comfy bus back up to Silverton. Worked great. Would have liked more time in Durango and I could have paid for a room that night, but chose not to.

Very nice train trip. But I'm partial to trains. Silverton is really a very cool town. Glad I stayed there for the week.

Visit to Silverton...

I was thinking about that too. I think the train schedule is tailored to Durango as a home base, so he may have to ride to Durango, spend the night at a hotel, and return the next day to Silverton.

Train goes right thru CG but no pickup.drop off.
Take a CAB.

No need for a cab. The town trolley stops there, and will take you downtown, which includes the train station.
Currently RV-less but not done yet.

You might verify that large parking area is still there (I assume across the tracks, facing the Double Tree hotel). Last time I was through there I don't recall seeing it.

Agreed, you can camp out of town, then drive your RV to their parking lot.

We camped a little north of town, didn't see one in walking distance.
