I wanna know opinions about how extreme hot weather max air conditioning affects travel limits and if the A/C is as good as it is in a luxury gasoline burner. Forget politics please...

We get summer hot spells of mid 90’s F. and very humid. I would say the A/C more than keeps up with that and I’m sure the mileage is reduced some, but not noticeably.

Not a cut and dry answer...but my experience...
My LEAF has a heat pump and being in the South...not much impact from the heat needed vs. being up North with no Heat pump. The vehicles with just resistive heating suffer more in the real cold. Using heated seats and heated steering wheel also reduce the need for more battery power.
AC not much range reduction and works just as good as gas vehicle.
In fact the pre-cool and pre-heat works better than a gas vehicle because the engine doesn't need to start. If you are plugged in, it uses the power from the grid to cool or heat the car.
I have tested running the AC while parked in the summer while waiting on the wife to shop and it uses @ 1% battery per hour!
Pretty sure my compressor is variable speed.

I believe much depends on where you travel, the ambient temp and the distance between charging stations…I’ve currently been spending time criss-crossing (west to east, and north to south) points in Arizona, where the highways are often long and desolate… Temps have mostly been fairly mild for this time of year, yet during my journeys I’ve noticed on two occasions, two Teslas driving with their rear window halfway down…I can recall seeing this elsewhere on occasion during much warmer times of the year - my guess is, it could be a technique used to extend range (I donno?)… On a more personal note (grid talk aside…), no doubt EV’s consist of some particularly impressive engineering, and should substantially serve the needs of many folks quite well.
I also happen to greatly admire Elon and his many ‘outsized’ laudable accomplishments, yet dismiss the presumption of a ‘net reduction’ in environmental harm…I’ll leave it for others to judge this yet to be determined narrative on their own… JMO
