On Instagram there was another Ram broke in half. It was a roofing contractor hauling shingles. May be these instances having something to do with the reduction in capacity on the newer trucks?

Maybe folks are just railing their Rams harder than other brands because the trucks are so much more burly than the other 2 mfgs! Lol
Or maybe this is evidence that the folks who eat sleep and breathe truck “numbers” now have more evidence that the ratings are somewhat arbitrary and differnet for differnet reasons.

But wholly why idgaf about chasing the “numbers”…..
Seen a pressure washer guy workin downtown yesterday. Nice ole 2nd Gen Dodge with a big commercial Hotsy and a 500 gallon tank in the back. Truck wasn’t broke in half with 5-6klbs in the bed every day.
But he probably didn’t put 10klbs of roofing in it the week before or run it in the Baja 1000!

The point was Ram hasn’t just randomly revised and lowered their tow ratings, regardless of whether those yootoob ding dongs think they have or not.
But it is good for clicks! They did succeed at that.

LOL... So you're saying Ram's towing guide website tow ratings reduction is a figment of our imagination?

If so maybe Ram ran out of that fairy tail pixie dust for their tow ratings and had to pay the piper! [emoticon]

I'm just glad Ram's ditching the CP.4 and replacing every 2019-2020 with the CP.3.
Tow ratings are worthless if you CP.4 grenades.

I don't know what's going on with Rams Towingate.

The TFL video showed 2500 models.

The 17klb number is for the Hemi. Which must be running a little extra pixie dust to hit them numbers! Lol

Back to your regularly scheduled program….

Many folks tow over their max authorized gross weight tow and payload ratings so is possible Ram is protecting themselves by reducing the max tow figures as a safety fudge measure and protection from lawsuits. Maybe should do this for other trucks. Just saying.

Ram is good, hemi is good, all is good. Great combination.

One the remember on manufactures ratings, the W stands for Wieght/Warranty rating. Go over the rating, warranty can be denied if it caused the item to break or fail during the warranty time frame.
P for performance should also be included. Too much wieght, frontal area, too steep a grade, can make make it so your speed does not meet min state speed laws, over heat trans engine etc, can't start on the speed grade 12% hills.
Also if you look at paylods, part of the tow ratings are a iirc min 10% hw plus driver for max tow ratings. It may include the perverbial 150 lb person per seatbelt too. A rig rated at 10000 tow need 1900 lbs of payload to meet this spec.
I can see many factors involved as to why Dodge reduced the tow ratings. We probably will not get the true answers.
Legally speaking, we can still be over manufactures ratings, as long as you have enough paid for tonnage/tax paid for damage you're doing to the road up to max federal law per axle/tire width.

Except for that one pesky thing….they haven’t lowered the tow ratings, based on at least 3 different documents….considering I’ve been sitting in a hospital caring for my wife for the last 2 weeks, I have time to look up stupid stuff like that to kill time….

BUT TFL guys only make money if people are watching them and waiting for the next episode. So to consider a couple goofballs who have somehow made a living driving from Denver to Silverthorne round trip in every truck made for the last however many years as factual is a bit remiss.
Gotta be a salesman to sell stuff and they sell “information” and yoo toob clicks.
