Did you actually make the butter ? I've seen articles about how to do it but, it is to difficult for me .
It's probably the easiest thing I've ever made. Don't tell my ancestors. ![biggrin [emoticon]](https://forums.motorhome.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/biggrin.gif)
I poured a liter of heavy whipping cream into my wife's KitchenAid and turned it on. About eight minutes later I turned it off and drained off the liquids (kind of like buttermilk, except it's not cultured and not really buttermilk). Turned it back on and drained the liquids three or four more times until all of the butter was stuck inside the whisk and mixing it didn't make sense anymore.
I squished it with a spatula to see if I could squeeze out any more liquid and then quit.
Finally I put it into some cheesecloth to see if I could squeeze out any more liquid. It didn't yield any more liquids, but it formed it into a pretty ball.
I called this "done" and put the ball into a crock bowl to take it to the potluck.
I think I spent more effort washing the bowl than making the butter. I think the only easier task in the kitchen has been opening a beer.
This fresh whipped butter tastes pretty amazing. I probably won't do this for our everyday butter because of the time to clean up, but I'll definitely do it every time I bake. And I wouldn't use this butter for other baking just because it seems too hard to measure it out for the recipes.
Anyway, this is a very simple thing to do and I'm kind of mad at myself for not trying it sooner.

We aren't going anywhere.
We are having a friend couple in for the dinner and a single friend. I like that a lot. During the years I was forced to be on the move, I was often invited to some family's celebratory dinner and appreciated it. So, we have often invited people we know to join us as well. Some where in my travels, I read of a culture that always sets an extra place at the table just in case someone should show up. I love the sentiment.
We never even hear from the son and family.
Our daughter's family is entertaining her in-laws again this year, so we will have only friends (whose three sons - two are deployed and the other is a first responder in the local big city) to join us.
That works for me.

We had to cancel our reservation for this week because of some health issues. I’ve put the Montana to bed for the winter, and will use the next 4 months to plan next year’s adventures.

Continued our traditions; Stopped by the Cat with all the extra food and the 4 extra Dutch Ovens, and played Alice's Restaurant on the way to campground.

For the first time in at least 30 years, spent Thanksgiving at home rather than in the desert with the bikes/SxSs. Most of our group were going different directions this year, so the change was necessary. Gotta admit, it was nice not having to fight Thanksgiving traffic on the way home!!!
