The 2010 U.S. Flu vaccine was a bust. I am curious to hear comments about the current strain. Symptoms, etc. It is much more of a serious affair for seniors 65 and older.

2010? Current strain of flu vaccine? Symptoms? From the vaccine? Not a real clear post.

The current quadrivalent flu vaccines cover four different strains, two A's and two B's. The senior vaccine is twice the dose of the standard dose.

I got my shot, no flu yet. I get the flu shot every year and haven't had flu since I've been doing that. Didn't get flu in 2010, FWIW. [emoticon] Anyway, they do the best they can each year and there's no apparent downside to getting the shot.

Never got the flu if I got a flu shot. It's always a shot in the dark (pun intended!) as to whether or not it works. Why you are worried about something that happened in 2010 I don't understand as it's not relevant. Go get your shot and be done with it. I've never had a reaction to any flu shot. Or COVID shot for that mater.

I HAVE heard that the flu is hitting hard and early this year which comes as no surprise. 2 years of masking and closures have weakened everyone's immune systems. Going for a physical on Tuesday when I will most likely get my shot.

Well. for many years my wife had to get a flu shot due to working in a senior residene.. Alas she always got sick after. (Me never got the flu, well as an adult, but did get Pneumonia one time)

Since COVID I've gotten my flu shots (No reaction and no flu either) also got my COVID shots (Likewise no reaction and No COVID)
Got a few other vaccines too.. THEY WORK

With both the Flu and to some extent COVID the vaccines are a bit of a "Best Guess"
With flu they attempt to predict how it will mutate every year (Evolve is another word for Mutate in this case) and prepare a vaccine to do that. The Mihigan State Dept of Health lab was rather good at that prediction but alas the were sold to a commercial venture that's not so hot.

With COVID they are mostly reacting when a new variant (Mutation) Evolves and thus it's more effective.

But I'm still 0/0 for Flu and Covid. Do get the annual mild cold. but see the Theraflu commericals.. There's a big difference between my winter cold and either of those two diseases.. like the difference between a mosquito bite. (Had a bunch of those) and over 2 dozen bee stings (Did that once too. only time I got an EPI shot)

Home was where I park it. but alas the.
