I would be OK if the OPEC+ was made mostly irrelevant.

The ONLY articles I could find re banks not loaning to oil companies, is in relation to "where and how" they are drilling. If the drilling etc was bad for the environment etc, they are being asked not to loan on these types of endeavors. But if its a cleaner way of getting oil out of the ground, environmentally sensitive to not harming the environment, then loan away!
While I realize some may not agree with this stance, I personally feel BIG OIL etc can do a better job getting the oil we need, and not harming the environment as bad as they have.
Biden may very well be saying this basic statement too. I have not found, nor looked for a quote of any nature by him in this regard.

I watched it on TV yesterday. Some members of the squad were roasting this banker. I turned it off in disgust.

And the "green" movement thinks that there is no such thing as responsible drilling.

My take is I don't much care if the men that have power to destroy our economy call themselves "OPEC" or "Shell oil"
About a hundred years ago elected officials decided the oil company (and other large companies) had too much power. They forced the breakup of Standard Oil into many companies that would compete with each other. Over the years after OPEC, the oil companies have merged to the point they can control price and supply.
One feature of the Green New Deal that is rarely discussed is there would be many more places to buy the power we need.
Some people get very upset when they hear it (Likely Mods will delete this)
Communism is often corrupted to the point where most of the means of production, and benefit of production, lands in the hands of few people. And this is the reason we are told to hate Communism.
OTOH, Capitalism, if it operates just like it is expected, is not constrained by strong unions or strong democratic (note the small 'D'. Not talking about the political party) government, most of the means of production, and benefit of production, lands in the hands of few people.

THIS is what Biden said about oil companies in 2020.

He later clarified his position as
Quote:

Biden’s campaign pointed us to the policy on Biden’s campaign website of "banning new oil and gas permitting on public lands and waters." It says nothing about drilling on private land.

Doing away with oil in the near future would set the world back 150 years without new technologies to replace it. Think of all the products we use every day that are derived from oil.

Think about it people

I listen to what politicians say
I PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY DO!!
For almost 2 years now, the fossil fuels have been under attack. I wonder how many new millionares will be created in congress because of these actions? Ever notice how rare it is fo a rich person to enter politics, and how rare it is for a politician to leave holding a tin cup? Just about all of them become extremely wealthy while in office.

And what have they DONE? Oil company profits are close to record highs. It doesn't look like anyone is putting them out of business anytime soon.

The rest is just pandering for votes.

This EV initiative is an ATTEMPT to reduce oil use for transportation purposes. Not much different from the E85, biofuel and propane initiatives in the past.

We Can Not Eliminate Oil Consumption.
