All smoke detectors have a 10 year life and need to be replaced 10 years from manufacture. Check the date on the back, they can be older than the year of the RV.

Propane and CO2 detectors have a 7 year life and need to be replaced 7 years from the date on the back.

This goes for any detector, hardwired, battery back up, or battery only units.

Ditto on all the recommendations. We've had to eventually replace our CO2 and propane detectors due to aging out.

I would suggest removing batteries from one at a time to identify which device is chirping.

Where is the propane detector? The other detectors are 8 years old so they are almost at the end of their useful life.

Propane (explosive gas) Detector is normally in the kitchen area at or just above the floor.. As in on the wall at the baseboard.

If you can.. Follow the little birdy to find where he's hiding.

Home was where I park it. but alas the.

On very rare occasions my alarms will shriek like a dying bird and then nothing for another two weeks or so. I gave up on trying to locate the bird. No kidding.

The sensors used in propane and CO detectors aren't very selective about what they'll detect.

Lots of things other than propane or CO will set them off - Hair spray, nail polish (and nail polish remover), just about anything containing alcohol...

The gases produced by unsealed lead-acid batteries can also set them off, particularly while the batteries are being recharged.

Exactly how we found that our batteries were going bad. One of the alarms kept going off, and I can't remember now which one, even after replacing it because it was old. I kept smelling this strong sulfur/acid smell and opened up the battery compartment. Oh man!!! An inspection of the batteries showed they were leaking, bulging, and bad. Replaced them and no more alarms.

at 5 years old (or there abouts) they start chirping, go pick a new one up and replace it.

OP needs to identify which unit is chirping!
Could be smoke detector or the LP detector.

I just coincidently found this. Our detector has also been chirping. Our Entegra is a 2020 so the detector is only 2 years old. It says if the battery is low both the red and green light would be lit up and it if was end of life red and green would be flashing. It is just green.
any suggestions on that?
thanks ahead of time
Michele
