I'm planning on removing my dinette and replacing it with a recpro 70" jack knife sofa. Anyone that has done this did you secure the sofa to the floor or did you just let it sit as is. There is something about using L brackets on their site but the information they provide is extremely sketchy to the point of being invisible.

An unsecured sofa wouldn’t be wise IMO…not that it needs to be overdone however.

I have a 5er and both the reclining chairs and sofa that is in a slide just sit there. When I am on the road and close the slides the sofa and chairs are penned in and can't move.

The ones we have had always just sat there with nothing holding them in place.

We just removed the sofa from our rig and it was held down to the wooden flooring with lag bolts. Then there were large bolts for the seat belts that went into steel framing.I would use some way to secure the unit to the floor.

We pulled the jackknife sofa out of ours and replaced it with a dual reclining loveseat about 4 years ago and it's not fastened down. The original one wasn't either. No problems yet.

OP is asking about a 5th wheel, only our kitchen table is secured, chairs, futon, recliner all just sit there..

Same with our FW. Only the table is screwed down.

A jacknife sofa is not the same as a regular sofa or recliner. They are top heavy. They need to be bolted in place. The plywood subfloor in slides is 1". Use lag bolts. The framing under the plywood is usually 1" also, so, if you penetrate the plywood, do so no more than 3/4".
