One "Side" effect... post recovery I lost about 10 pounds.. and noticed a reduction in edema in my legs (where the 10 pounds came from) My THEORY (Which I will ask about at next Urologist visit) with the bladder empty. Kidneys working better.

In short that's a side BENEFIT.

Funny this thread re-appeared - since my original cheery statement, Ed developed Ucerative Colitis, and somehow, all that inflammation seems to have set off his prostate? After landing my sweet husband in the ER with kidney failure due to complete blockage, it is now officially "too big" (BPH). He's being a good sport about being catheterized until he can go in for TURP surgery a month from now. He's not looking forward to it, of course; but he's already had TUR surgery to remove a tiny speck of bladder cancer that was found during his CT scan for the UC, and successfully removed.

I hope all goes well.

My father has a prostate problem. He didn't go through surgery. His doctor prescribed Doxazosin (Cardura). This is an Alpha blocker. From what I read on the Canadian Pharmacy Online site, it relaxes the muscles of the prostate and the neck of the urinary bladder. I do hope it will help him, but the more I read, the more posts I find written by people who had to undergo surgery after the course of drugs.

Sounds like cutting off your leg to cure a hangnail on your little toe. [emoticon]

Well I'm not recovered from the Uro-Lift procedure and I have to say the sensation of FULL FLOW and a fully emptied bladder.. Fantastic.

This gets me off some med's (Always a good thing) and solves the problem.

I've been holding off, until reading this. I know it's too late for most here, but just the opposite of above is correct.

Starting early, continuing all through life, being active, will prevent most, from having prostate issues later in life.

Some activity helps, more activity is better, and a lot, best of all!

I'm serious...look it up!

OP here. My urine stream seems to be improving somewhat. Besides trying to eat healthy, I'm taking a daily multivitamin , extra vitamin D3 and vitamin C, plus fish oil. Maybe my routine is helping, but I can't be sure. Anyhow, whatever the cause, I'm glad to see some improvement. [emoticon]
