My Sunday newspaper reported that a federal grand jury has indicted seven southwest Missouri residents accused of stealing thousands of catalytic converters. Investigators estimate the suspects stole tens of thousands of catalytic converters and received $6.8 million from an Arkansas company between Dec 12, 2019 to Oct. 15, 2021.
No information yet about whether the receiving company is to be charged.

6.8 MILLION.. no wonder they got indicted..
This is one of the thinkgs that ticks me off. FRAUD, I'm speaking on-line fraud, like "Your grandson is in jail and needs 5,000 for bond" fraud... or "Send me some money and I'll send you much more (Nigerian prince thing) or "This is the IRS" (no it's not) billions a year... but "it's kiddie crime" says the government.
Save for one grandma got the "Your grandson needs bond money" all.. Well.. she played along. and called her old employer.. who showed up. and when the "Bail Bondsman" showed up to collect the cash (you see she did not have any debit cards) he found that HE needed a bail bondsman. a real one. You see she, like me, retired from 9-1-1

It's rampant just about everywhere.
Motorhomes parked in storage lots are particularly attractive targets.

Pickup trucks and vans since they're easier to crawl under. They have been jacking up small cars around where I live especially Toyota Pirus and have hit several more than once. And they have even hit the local muffler shop.
