We had our first TV in the UK just in time to watch the QE II Coronation that was broadcast live. Up until then, I had never seen it, a kid in school had one before us and I asked him what was shown. He said 'everything'! When my parents brought it home, we switched it on and they were showing some festival with dancers going round and round some Maypoles. Interesting, but it soon got boring for this four year old ! Thinking that we could see 'everything' I asked Dad to put a 'Cowboy; show on! Of course, we only had one channel and so it didn't compute!
Who would know that it would take about 60 years for this to become a reality!
Sometimes I sit and think deep thoughts. other times, I just sit!

Not so much early TV,but I remember at 18 (1973) getting my first credit card at Sears. Had a $500 credit limit and spent $449 on a 19" portable color TV that weighed about 70#. Had a remote but up had to set the channels and put in little plastic strips for the channels in the door.

Degaussing? Convergence?
Tube checkers at supermarkets?
Channelmaster?
Snow? Echoes?
Late night after the squawk box was shut off the cat would jump up for a warm ace to sleep.
One person on the roof, maybe a second at the door and a third looking at the picture. "Maybe a little more! Hold it! You went too far.
Why aren't we getting Channel 4?
A "rotator" and "amplifier". Twenty feet of extension. A twenty element antenna?

Hauling the console off for shop repairs. The after dinner anguish because watching Huntley Brinkley, or Cronkite was an addiction.

Our family's tv was a B&W console. The neighbors had the first color tv on the block and after school would go over to their house to watch it until supper time.
It wasn't until 1968 my parents bought a Sylvania 25" color tv. I also remember when I was sick and home from school watching programs that I hadn't seen before. On Sunday night my parents would let me stay up and watch the Wonderful World of Disney.
Currently have a 75" Hisense 4k tv, my how times have changed.
Also remember playing outside as a kid but had to go inside when the street lights came on.

Remember well turning the antenna post with Dad yelling out instructions. Are cat slept on the tv with the tail in front of the picture. Grave's drug store had a tube checker. Remember the tv repairman coming to the house, only a few times though.

I don't even remember our first tv, but for sure it was black and white.
Now everything is so different and technology is insane. It is unreal how many things we can do online. Anyone knows something about Spectrum? So far i only found their reviews here. Who knows something else?

Ahh, yes...memories, memories.
I remember, as a youngster, living in Levittown NY, somewhere around 1948 or '49, we didn't yet own a TV. Our neighbor bought one and invited us to come over and watch. Some of the shows I remember were Howdy Doody, Farmer Grey and Felix the Cat cartoons, Sabu, among a couple of others.
What was amazing back then is so passé now. I also remember, some years later, you could buy a plastic sheet to stick on the picture tube with various colors in it to make your B&W TV into a "color" TV. Of course, it was a scam. As I recall, the top section was blue, the bottom brown (maybe green), so if it was an outdoor scene on the tube, it would show a blue sky and a colored ground.
