Norcold LiOP error

Every time we get a storm with high winds and rain I have to deal with the LiOP error on my Norcold 1210 fridge. I can reset it with a magnet, that's no big deal, but I can't trust it when I'm away from the RV for more than a day. If it trips I lose all the food in the fridge/freezer.

I noticed the other day that simply touching/pushing lightly on the body of the high temp limit switch will cause the lights to flash rapidly. Wiggling the wires going into the unit from the sensor will also cause the flashing.

Bottom line, I'd like to replace the limit switch but, as you may know, Norcold considers this serviceable only by an authorized tech. I cannot get the replacement part from them. Mine has a number on it (634677) and I can't find any reference to it online. The ones I've found that I can actually purchase LOOK identical, but they have a different number (637360). In the description for that part, it says it's for a Norcold 1210. I called Norcold customer service and the guy won't even tell me if the part numbers are, in fact, the same, or whether the 637360 will work on my unit.

You either need just the right horrible weather or your fridge actually needs to malfunction.

You can purchase the WHOLE kit------637360-----it is the same unit just different part #

Or you could tighten the wire connections to the Module terminals

Magnet trick....
Bi-metallic reed switch at top of module.
Magnet just 'pulls' it back open

Ahhh, that explains it!

You have to admit that the magnet trick is pretty magic voo-doo stuff. Your family thinks you're Houdini when you go outside with your magnet and fix the fridge. I've only had to do it once though after a heavy rain and thunderstorm.
