2011 Ram HD 3500 DRW Cummins 68RFE 523k miles!

Engine, turbocharger, and transmission have 523K on them without any major repairs? Impressive. I wonder if the injectors are stock as well although he said the engine has not been cracked so I am assuming so. Even more impressive are the original rear brakes especially when being used a hot shot truck.

I saw a coolant additive from cummins that a early 5.9 owner showed me. 7.3 power strokes up to 2002 had to use an additive every 15K miles. PF-15 then changed to another number like maybe 16. chevman

Come on FISH you know better! The Cummins B series engine does NOT need the coolant to be tested and you know this! Other โ€œSLEVEDโ€ Cummins engines DO Need to have coolant tested.

What do your pictures have to do with being able to see the engine?

Yes your engine is easier to access the oil filter. Mine takes me literally less than 5 minutes to remove my air intake and and have easy access from above to RnR the oil filter.

That is another plus for the Cummins 5.9/6.7 there is nothing special about the cooling system. No testing or additives.

Letโ€™s not forget you can still see the engine.

Yeah Ok...

Also why are you ignoring that Fleetguard sells coolant test strips as part of their coolant maintenance.

The only thing in our snowbird park that came close to winning the noise contest over my mildly tuned 24V was the garbage truck and the 7.3 PS's, I still hear a couple 7.3's in the park along with early 5.9 Cummins. The 7.3's do require more maintenance than the early 5.9's.

Yes , my early 99 Superduty was as loud as any I've heard ,IMO there were a lot of them more quiet then mine . It finally wore its welcome out after nearly 16 years, great truck, but no power compared to the new ones, one of the reason, plus as said the maintenance n cooling system , additive etc. to finally trade it in .

and the best part is you can buy the entire truck for less than a CP4 disaster!

Actually this is not true

I agree with Fish.

True, 7.3L trucks hold their value VERY well...for very good reason. :B

Then why did you say you can buy a the entire truck for less than a CP4 disaster? I think we know!

Well, the CP4 disaster wouldn't be that much less than buying a decent 7.3L; now a cherry 7.3L still sells for as much or more than a lot of 6.7L Fords....I wonder why.... :h :B

As I've said before, I would happily buy a cherry 7.3L Super Duty!

Thanks for making my point
