I missed seeing any Clydesdale commercials in the Super Bowl this year, but there are some amazing commercials using animals now.

Subaru has many with dogs driving their cars, Kia or Hyundai are using dogs as well.

I laugh out loud with the new Geico Raccoon commercial Food Truck "Chez Dumpster." I particularly love the one where one raccoon describes a delicacy and the other says "my mouth is watering" and the first one says "it's just you rabies acting up."

I must admit I was underwhelmed by the SB commercials this year, although I LOVED the game itself and the result.

To me, the best commercial was the Bill Murray/Groundhog day reprise for Jeep.

This year it was the Weather Tech commercial I liked most. In the past it was the little dog getting lost, making its way back home just to become surrounded by wolves. The Clydesdale's sensed it and came to his rescue. Most of the other commercials this year were not that great.

Another thing to consider is that treatments on our animals are often an early step in formulating treatments for people.

The costs are the same for the drugs whether given to animals or people, so if the same drug is used the cost is the same.

I liked the Weather Tech commercial too. There are some amazing studies going on at several veterinary schools, often partially funded by private companies. Morris Animal Foundation (Founder of Hill's ) is currently funding a Golden Retriever lifetime study.

I had a Collie Strider that went through the protocol for treating Lymphoma. At the time there was less then a 3 percent chance of full recovery. The end cost for my local vet and K-State was around 6k. In the end it extended his life 8 month's.

I hope that advancements will be made and the cost will come down. You have to start somewhere. I did not have a spare 6k but made sacrifices in other areas to make it work. (In fact while I was at K-State I found out the company I worked for was sold and I no longer had a job).

Last year Cooper came down with very aggressive oral cancer after discussing with my vet the decision was made to make him cofortable as possible until his passing.

Without people trying there would be no advancements in medicine.

In fact I documented Strider's treatment from beginning to end on this pet forum in the hope it would help others understand. It was lost to time passing.

I'm another one who LOVED the Doritos "Make Your Move" commercial with the "dancing" horse trained in dressage 🙂 And yes - I always look forward to seeing the Budweiser Clydesdales - heck, I watch the SuperBowl for the commercials

Yes it is.... Not unlike my friend the dietician encouraging me to eat more grain and vegetables. I tell her that ranchers feed grain and some veggies to their cows. I eat the cow.

It would be great if the broadcaster would run an hour long show before the Super Bowl just for us who don’t watch pro sports. It may not take that long, but then they could run other commercials between the SB commercials. Then I wouldn’t have to record the super bowl and fast forward past the game and the semi porn halftime show just to see the commercials.

On topic, always love a good animal commercial, even if it’s done with computer graphics.

That one touches me. When I had the heart attack and stroke they had a huge therapy dog come in my room in CCU and lay his head on my bed. Felt so nice to pet him. I was missing my dog.:)

Another favorite is the Pedigree commercial where a little girl is undergoing treatment in a hospital and for a change a therapy dog comes in and giant smile comes to her face.
