I cannot locate the model number. The lantern in question is a Coleman North Star liquid propane with the igniter built directly into the fuel knob. There is no red side igniter. Trouble has always been lighting as sometimes it sparks sometimes not. Always a thrill. I recently discovered some holes in the base below the glass. I enlarged one so my lighter would go up inside. Seems to work. I would rather use the igniter but am wondering if anyone knows how to fix or replace the igniter. My barbecue has a battery. This, aparently, does not. Any thoughts? Thanks

Sorry, all my Colemans predate igniters.

It's often the case even for household stove. And even if it ignites, it dosn't always result into flames.

Cleaning helps -- sometimes.

But easier to just have a torch handy,

Coleman used to sell a flint igniter that bolted into one of the holes below the glass and slid up to light and slid down to keep it cool.

I solved the problem by enlarging one of the vent holes so my lighter can now go up inside by the mantle. Probley last forever. Never did find the model number. Coleman is not what it use to be

Drop an email to Old Coleman Parts and you might also post on Coleman Collectors Forum

I used the first link to find an igniter for my liquid fuel North Star but don't know too much about the propane models

Coleman lanterns were made in Wichita Kansas, previously as printed on the old lanterns and stove. But not anymore, nowadays everything is cheaply made in China. Recently I purchased a new dual-fuel lantern and it is junk compared to the old 220 series lanterns.
