Newfoundland Moose Trip

We crossed and returned on a Newfoundland trip just yesterday. Firearms into Canada and firearms with a moose back home to the USA. We spent a week in the bush and looked it. Only the paperwork was checked, neither side even looked at the guns for a serial number check. The paperwork was form filled and printed, thus neat, complete and accurate. The moose export permit was hand written.

The only border concern was fruits and veggies, on both sides. Thanks to advice on this forum, we had none. Nobody cared about the moose.

A complete nothing burger at the border. Smooth, professional and fast. We were pleasantly surprised.

ELKloaf? Son has some given to him and we/I am going to cook it and I have never had game meat...so I want to cover it up and meatloaf sounds like a way?

I have had beaver stew and it was scrumptious! Have not had "beaverloaf".


Those I know who have eaten beaver stew, say good things about the flavor. The beaver is a veterinarian so no wonder the meat would be tasty.

The senior woodsman up here in the northeast speak of 'beaverloaf', which is made from the fur-bearer tail meat. Rich dark meat with lots of flavor, so it is said.

Personally, I have not experienced that pallet delight.
