Voice-to-text software is speech recognition technology that turns spoken words into written words.

Can you suggest a good software for my windows 10 laptop? Cost is important but NOT the controlling element.

Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

Windows has the built in windows speech recognition software. I use it for work sometimes for dictation for long emails but you can teach it to do anything a mouse would do. There is a learning process, where you have sessions with it to further learn your voice. Once dialed in it works ok.

Dragon also makes an off the shelf software that works pretty good in some applications.

Google's version is really bad.

Use the Windows built in. It is as good as the others.

I use and like Dragon, but you do need to train yourself and the software to work at full effect.

Windows works fine, any of them need to be "trained".

Voice to text may already be configured. On your laptop try clicking (Windows key plus the H key) to launch the speech recognition. If this does nothing then...
  • Click on the windows icon (formerly the start button) on the lower left corner of the screen.
  • Click on "settings" (the gear icon) on the left side of the screen.
  • Click on "Time & Language".
  • Click on "Speech" on the left side of the window.
  • Under "Related Settings" scroll down to "Speech, inking & typing privacy".
  • On the new page click on "Speech, inking & typing privacy".
  • That should be it.
  • Click (Windows key plus the H key) to launch the speech recognition.

I have a Microsoft lifeChat LX-3000 Headset that I have never used. It is 5 plus years old. I can not get Microsoft Speech Reorganization program to acknowledge the microphone. The ear phone parts work and there is no errors in the Device Manager.

Any suggestion?

Are you expecting it to work without internet?

Dragon was the industry leader for an offline connection. Not sure if it still works off-grid or not.

I would research to see if it's compatible or if the operating software is installed. If not, look to see what software is compatible with your headset or buy a headset compatible with the windows version. I don't use a headset at all, just the built in microphone on the laptop.
