Should the battery on our tt(2018 passport) be able to ignite the fridge to run on propane? We used the propane in Georgia (to get the fridge colder) so we know it works. But when we try to start the fridge when not hooked to power, it will not ignite.

Yes it should power the spark igniter to ignite the propane option on the fridge. Is your battery charged? Is the igniter dirty and not creating the spark to ignite?

Your trailer will have an auto setting.
Plugged up to AC outlet = uses electric to cool frig.

Unplugged = runs off gas.
I suspect a couple things here.
Make sure you have propane and valve is on.
And may have to inspect orifice for spider or wasp....happens quite often.

This might seem like a dumb question but did you purge the air out of the lines before you tried to start it?

The easiest way to do that is to run a burner until you get a clear blue flame without any orange in it or sputtering.

If you don’t have a manual, I would suggest you get one for your particular unit. Type in the name and model number.

Sounds like the battery is not charged. When you are hooked to shore power the converter supplies 12V. The fridge needs 12V for the control board as well as the ignitor.

Finally someone addressed the issue

OP...
W/O shore power do the trailer lights work, does the water pump work IE: do you have DC Voltage
Battery 'disconnect' switch (if equipped) OFF?
Battery In-line fuse (or DC circuit breaker) on battery positive cable blown (located on tongue of trailer.follow the POS Cable)?

Is it time for your medication or mine?

Battery is fully charged, we bought a tester to be sure. The lights,in the trailer work fine and we can extend the awning on battery. Just cant start the fridge.
