Buffalo DriveStation 3Tb External Hard Drive -- Dead ??

I have a Buffalo DriveStation USB 3.0 3TB External Hard Drive (HD-LC3.0U3) that is "dead". Either the electronic or the HD is bad.

If the electronics is bad can I take the 3Tb HD out and use the HD in my desktop computer -- I assume it is a SATA drive.

If the HD is bad, can I install a replacement standard HD in the DriveStation?
Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

They are a great deal, I have three of the 256 gig ones.

Agreed, a 3tb SSD would be very pricey!

Wow, I didn't realize they had gotten that cheap!

Bigger are still too pricey

And also costs about 10 times as much though.

I've given up on spinning platters, I run a chipset hard drive now. No need to defrag ever either and it runs cool and quiet.

Yes, you can connect the drive inside the enclosure to your computer, it will be a standard SATA drive.

Yes, you can put a regular SATA drive into the enclosure, the electronics don't care about the drive itself, they just convert USB to SATA
