Rear Tires

Noticed today our rear tires are finally down to the minimum wear indicators. We put them on in 2009, at 8600 miles, today we indicate 73,000 miles.
I guess we will replace with another set of Michelins XA2 or 3 before we go one any more long trips.

In ten years of ownership we have place only 60,000 miles on the coach, I don't believe I need another 150,000 mile tires.
If I do keep the coach for another 10 years before I sell the buyer will believe the tires need to be changed anyway.

It's a class 8 truck I guess I'm used to the ride, air ride seats smooth out the long hours behind the wheel. Just left Delaware taking my 22 year old grand son on a trip to Lake Tahoe then swing up into Canada.

Yep and replaced with the same Michelin tires, all season drives and directional steers, basically semi truck tire, load range H.

The coach tire is a load range "G" the truck tire is a load range "H" can it make that much difference?

research shows that the truck tire has more tread.
but does it ride harder?

Are you saying you got 149.000 miles out of a set of tires ?

Someone actually wore out a set of Michelinโ€™s before the sidewall cracks got to big...amazing. I went 10 years on my 6 rear tires and they still look good on the back of my dump truck...15 years old.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

I'm just amazed that ten year old tires didn't shred themselves on the highway.

Coming up from Texas last week we were running 65 +- MPH in 90- degree heat, no problems.

Lots of CYA built into tire warrantees, What I worry about most is road hazard damage.

When I worked around fleet vehicles they would "age out" tires when they hit 7 years old even if they still had tread.
