Caulking underside of cap

What is best type of caulking to use on underside of fifth wheel cap

I just used LEXEL (clear) to reseal around the entire front of my Jayco. The LEXEL was only the secondary sealant though. Across the top aaluminum to roof joint I applied Eternabond tape and along both corner trim I applied Dicor Seal-Tite tape. The LEXEL was used between the metal trim and the tape especially at each screw hole.
Unfortunately the useless butyl tape had failed long ago even though it looked OK from the outside and there were some rotted wood repairs required.
Te LEXEL is easy to use and a wet soapy water finger cleanly tools the slealant into place.
