I changed the fuel filter inside the frame rail a few months ago
Today I swapped out the EEC-IV
The electronic dwell control
It was mounted on the firewall behind the battery control center

I want to know the location where is the ICM MODULE THAT FIRES THE COIL

Sat morning I'm going to replace the distributor cap and the rotor

Then plugs and wires
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

Replace the cap and rotor too. If you spend a little more on the cap you can get the one with the brass contacts inside. I think Napa sells them. You got the good iridium plugs.

The 460 was known for fuel filters. A lean condition could produce a hotter engine and issues. When was the last time the filter replaced.

You won't find a code reader for OBD1 at least I could not find one for my OBD1 454, but if you short out two pins in the connector that a code reader would go with a paper clip it will blink out the codes that you can count the service light blinks which translates to a code. 12 blinks means every thing is normal on a Chevy, Ford would have different codes.

New iridum plugs.
Find some quality wires.
There are plenty of after market parts better than OEM.

For a 460 or a 454 engine of that vintage I would get the Taylor 10.4 mm wires they are made to withstand high heat produced by both of those engines. They come with a FG sox that fits over each spark plug. If you start your engine at night and look closely at the wires you are likely to see small arcs for the wires to the engine block(ground). These thinner wires(8mm or less) will break down after a while from the high heat. I would just get any of the majors brands of spark plugs. Are you showing any codes yet from the backfires?

I concur completely. AC Delco for GM, Motorcraft for Ford. Every time.

I've never been disappointed by Motorcraft parts. The originals last a long time and the vehicle is falling apart before the replacements go bad...
