What are the opinions about Trogan Batteries, Specially the T-145, and the T-145 Plus, is it worth the difference cost?

Below I'd Trojan's response from asking what is the differance between the T-145 and the T-145 Plus.

Batteries are the same internally. Plus Series batteries use a different top cover than our other batteries. This means the batteries have hinged vent caps and the vent wells are laid-out differently than our other batteries. The Plus Series batteries also have a built-in electrolyte-level indicator, so our HydroLink watering system was not intended for use on the Plus Series batteries and it is not compatible with them.

I have sent Trojan a message and will post their reply when I hear from them.

It seems as I asked the question to the dealer I was talking to but I simply do not recall his reply. I do recall him saying it wasn't worth the price difference.

Just one Source. There are lots of discussions at places like Battery University, 12 volt side of life.

If you check the SG and say one or two cells are very low they could be bad. If all of them are low but close to each other an equalize may help.

Some solar controllers have the ability to go to those voltages. Some aftermarket converters can and some use automotive chargers that may reach it. I use a Meanwell brand Wich is manually adjusted to go from about 13 to 17 volts.

Pay attention during the process and don't start it and leave it alone.

A pendulum type hydrometer is available at auto parts store for about $12. If you want laboratory grade get a Prease(?)

I do not have a hydrometer (yet) but will measure specific gravity when I do.

I have Trojan T-125s now, they've been in service 4 years. and they won't hold a charge very long. we were getting 5 days on batteries but now we can only go 2 before we get the low battery light.

My Position:
Other than a couple of "Boutique" brands which are even more expensive Trojan's are the best of the Major Brands.. BUT are they worth the cost??? I think not.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.
2005 Damon Intruder 377 Alas declared a total loss
after a semi "nicked" it. Still have the radios

Most deep cycle batteries will last about 5 years. AGM are great but wet cell can last longer if properly maintained. After a full discharge, they must be equalized (A higher per cell voltage than a normal charge) Also, every time a battery has been discharged, it does lose some of its capacity. Temperature also plays into this as well. Optimal battery performance is 77 degrees. 25 years of battery experience on large UPS systems here.

Are you going to go to AGM batteries?

I recently replaced my flooded cell GC6 batteries with AGM, tired of checking the water all the time.
