Ok, I've always been a Ford Truck guy, currently have a 2016 F-350 SRW Diesel, with 50,000 miles, bought new for good deal. Now nearby dealership wants to buy my truck, and if a good deal they have this Dodge truck and a 2019 F-350 duelly also. I know this will get people going, but am wondering about the Dodge I-6 Diesel engine. Good/Bad etc. Does it get better gas mileage??? Thoughts?

Yeah, no deal, they weren't willing to come closer, and I love my truck. I just went because they said they were giving great trade-ins, but the manager told me he was offering the wholesale price he could get at auction. Which is what I could get anywhere, so not a great trade deal, just a fishing exercise. I got my truck serviced and I'm all good. Learned that dealers are not always ready to deal, and I got a great deal on my current truck, which I love and will keep for a long time most probably.

What is the trim level of the truck you have and what is the level of the dually you looked at? If you have an XL and was looking at a Limited thay made you a good offer.

I have a Lariat and was looking at a Lariat dually.

I bought my FIRST RAM/CUMMINS in 2001 with 50k, sold it to my Son at 350k it now has 400k. Bought if for the engine, truck has proven to be awesome!

Bought this truck with 313k from original owner sold to a Friends Son at 355k it now has 400k. Solid truck! Sold because i really wanted a 4x4.

Replaced it with this last Summer 123k original owner, time will tell but it seems rock solid.

Thank you for sharing this. Very nice trucks and itโ€™s cool you know where they still are.

I called an old friend of mine yesterday and asked him about a 1985 Ford with the 6.9 L engine. Says his Uncle still has it and it still runs but needs lots of work. He was not brand loyal to Ford last two trucks have been Chevy.

Bought this 11 new towed 29k combined, traded at 65k with ZERO issues.

Current 15 towing 33-35k combined 64k. Oil leak at timing cover to pan and rear trans seal both covered under warranty.

So my "LOYALTY" is based on AWESOME service.

I was thinking more about the current trade-in value of my truck. It made me realize that the depreciation on that thing exceeds the total value of what I paid for the TT and upgrades.

That said, the whole combo was one of the best quality-of-life decisions I've ever made.

Best regards,
Chris

This is how my RAM towing beast was set up. OEM tailgate camera was repeated as the back dot on the V-Box and another camera was added i the back on the front box that looked right at the hitch. Nothing need to be done to the 385/865 Cummins/Aisin setup. Towed 24500 combined just great. Chris

Very cool!! Nice setup. Does that front box have extra fuel?

NO. (Well, my 6 gal yellow diesel can fit in it.) I quit towing the 5th wheel, so it is now in it's forth truck. Was in my 93, 2001.5, and 2015. It is now in a friends 2007.5.

Update: Had my meeting today, got my vehicle serviced, drove the 2019 F350 dually, then ran numbers with them. We were $12,500 apart between my trade, and the new truck...hahahaha....basically after dissecting their numbers (they always given them to you strangely to get you flummoxed. Being an accountant helps!) they came down on MSRP only to 91% value, and wanted to give me $6500 less than I wanted on my trade-in. Interesting to be in the dance again, and see how dealers are doing things now. The 2019 F350 dually is nice, the steering is much tighter, and the suspension is much nicer!! They do make nice trucks. I saw the 2018 Longhorn 3500 dually, but it was blocked by other vehicles so couldn't drive it. They were clearly steering me away from the RAM, and towards the Ford, even denigrating RAM's in the process. Made we wonder about margins for the sale of each. Thanks to all for the info on RAM's. I did see a 2500 with the RAM boxes, which I think are brilliant, but was told they don't make those for the 3500's, not sure if that's true, or if they just don't order them that way.

Well have you made a decision??

well, these are not Ram's but they have served me well... the top is my previous 2008 KZ and 2009 F-350 with the 6.4 that served me wonderfully...

and my present rig..

Like I stated in the other thread, when I make the move to a DRW, I will entertain the thought of a new Ram.... Although Ford's have been great to me since my first 1980 F250 with the 351 Windsor engine...

Chris , Looks like the "LOVE SHACK " has evolved almost as much as the truck . ! ! ! Although the first 2 were sweet, the last combo wins, hands down.

Bought the 93 in 94 used, so 24 or 25 years of RAM/Cummins and along the way a boat for 19 years with two 4BT/B150 4 cylinder Cummins. Never have been let down by one in all the years. Knock on wood.

We live in the Bighorn in the summer up North now and bought a Laredo TT as a commuter. Chris

^^^^^^^ GOOD POST!!!

Another thing even adding the AISIN and Factory Rear air Ride to the LongHorn they are still less money than the similarly equipped KingRanch. BUT for ME even if the RAM were more I would still buy it.

Thanks! You know the fact youโ€™d still buy it is that Ram loyality. I looked closely at the XLT interior on the Ford and it was nice but in my opinion no nicer and some things like the entertainment center is hands down better on the Ram.

So yeah. I do have some of that in me too but really Iโ€™d i could have gotten within a $1000 bucks of the The Ram with a Ford, I was going to give the Ford a go of it.

As it is Iโ€™m very proud of the Ram I now have and Iโ€™m setting it up to be a tow beast. The best a SRW 3500 SB can be.

But I can tell ya whatever truck you are buying right now, you will be proud of the vehicle. They are all very good.
