Slide Out Toppers

Since Slide out toppers are in the sun all the time they are out, does anyone put any type of liquid protection on theirs?

When you replace them use Sunbrella, they'll last a very long time.

My toppers have a shiny surface, I'm guessing some sort of vinyl. The thread stitching deteriorated on mine. I restitched them and they're good to go. 11 years old.

We kept our Sunline trailer for 10 years and the awning was in great shape when we sold it. All I did was keep it clean. I cleaned it with car wash and sometimes added just a little bleach to help remove dirt.

The problem with 303 is its only good for 30 days at most. Nothing lasts for ever, so if you start plan on cleaning and protecting every time you close them up. Anything else is a waste of time.

It certainly wont hurt to use something like 303 to protect them. It would ber especially usefull on the part that remains visible when rolled up. That seems to be the spot that fails first.

Mine are more of a vinyl with a slick surface than cloth. I do wash them maybe once a year & after they dry I'll give them a once over with that 303 stuff. Amazing how much bird poop is up there.

My canvas toppers are 13. a couple of 'em need attention but it's due to damage (Rips) not decay.. No coathings.. You might scotch guard a fabric topper that would be the only thing I'd suggest.

No need to go onto roof you can work off a ladder for that job.

I do go on roof 2x a year with mop. bucket. spic and span, garden hose.

Never did and mine lasted 10 years. But I see no reason you couldnt use some vinyl cleaner protectant.

We don't. Seems to me it would require climbing up on the roof which is not a good idea for some of us seniors.
I wouldn't know what to use except possibly Corrosion X.
