Slide/camera issue

Just picked up the mh from the Cummins shop for a coolant repair. Of course, it was there for several days with no power supply. Got home and noticed when I shut it off, the rear camera stayed on. Also, we to let the slides out and they don't move. Almost like the mh still thinks it is in gear and running. Generator works fine. Cranked it several times and shut it off, wiggled the ignition key, checked the batteries and breaker. No reason for this issue found. Any ideas on what I might check??

That is some kind of miracle.

Problem fixed! With the help of this forum and Thor Customer Service, it turned out to be a bad ignition relay. A $3.39 piece. Time to celebrate!

Most OEM's install a solenoid that is activated by the Ignition switch when on or engine running. They control certain 12 volt items that seem to be chassis items but are really items installed by the RV coach maker. Some of these items
1. Back up camera
2. Dash radio/GPS
3. The slide out disconnect system
4. dash AC/Heat
5. wiper blade power
6. side view power mirrors
7. some others, but these are usually the main ones.
As other have stated, that solenoid is either stuck CLOSED or somehow the IGN power for it is ON all the time. Doug

Where would I find the relay box??

It is located where ever your motorhome manufacturer (not the chassis maker) placed it. On my old 2000 Holiday Rambler, it was located in the storage bin drivers side front bay. If possible, call your manufacturer to get the location.

Good luck with your problem.

Tell the wife it's toast, the whole camper is now shot! You need to get a new one! Oh ya!.... Let the good times roll!

Possibly a defective relay that has frozen in the on position. Find the box with all the relays and read the labels of what they control. Or you can just unplug each relay to see when the symptoms change.

Check the switch on the front of your camera screen. Mine can be turned on while my ignition is off. Yours may be the same.

AR, have you thought about turning off the chassis battery disconnect to see if it would reset the engine electronics?

Just a thought.

Both elec and hydralic. It almost seems like the mh thinks it is still running. That is why the rear camera stays on and won't shut off, the slides and the awnings don't work....????

Are the slides electric or hydraulic?
