Looking for Campground

Hello, we will be traveling from Branson to Florence IN. Looking for a halfway stop probably east of St. Louis on 64. Been on rv parks review and haven't seen anything. Would need 50 amp electric. Any suggestions?
ETA, I didn't know to post here or routes. Someone might advise me on that also. Thanks!

We stayed at Rend Lake COE on the way home from KC. Nice park, not very expensive. However, it was the only park we stayed at all winter where I needed auxiliary leveling devices.

Carlyle Lake. 15 mi +/- N of I-64. Beautiful lake. You can get a site w/o reservation at Eldon Hazlet SP at Carlyle Lake any time except Holiday.They have some 50 amp and a few pull thru in each section. The Corp parks are small and typically full on the weekends. No problem during the week. There are 4 campgrounds near Carlyle and two on East side of lake.

Nashville, IL 5 +/- S of I-64 is Washington County Recreation Area. Small campground, electric (50?) I saw two 50 amp sites. Nice campground. I Would reserve for weekend stop.

Both places are on Reaerve America.

Further east and north of 64 is Carlyle Lake (Corp of Engineer) parks. Dam West does have some pull-thrus for just an overnight even though their maps don't show them ( they look like back-ins). Have W/E and usually clean modern bath/showers. They are across the road from the main campground with about 10-15 sites.

When I need to find campground on my route I typically set up a route on the GS Trip Planner and use the Campground button to find campgrounds along my route. You can search from 1 to 60 of your route and not just GS parks.

When we are driving we like to goto GOOGLE SEACRH and you can type in ST LOUIS i.e. and this will bring up a google map of the surrounding area. Then in the search window type RV CAMPGROUNDs.. and then the map you are seeing will then show up all of the RV Camping areas... Then you can click on one of those and it will take to that campground home page...

We also like to ZOOM down on some of these RV CAMPGROUNDs and switch to SATELLITE MODE and then can see the campground. Will give you a good idea if this will be good for you to use...

You can continue this going from Point A to Point B and letting the GOOGLE MAP update as it get moved.

This is great for us as well when driving through the mtns roads. If you see RV's or Big Trucks on the road using the map then you get a pretty good idea it will be safe for you to go that way... These satellite modes are updated regularity so they will be pretty much up to date on what you can see...

Sometimes I will just set down with my LAPTOP and track my whole road from point A to point B and see what it looks like on the road maps...

Just another good tool you use to your benefit...

If you want to be barely east of St. Louis, Casino Queen RV Park (just across the river) is often mentioned as a not terrible place to stay. Cahokia (which enblethen mentioned) is also in the same general area.

Try the Illinois Campgrounds map at Allstays. St. Louis sits on the state line and since you're going east that will put you in ILL.
