We stopped here on an overnight and would have stayed a day or 2 longer to explore the area if schedules permitted.
It's 70 miles west of San Antonio. It's a lovely campground, secure, a few seasonals, pool, full hookups, grass and trees, and grounds to wander that are huge. It would qualify as a park. Two forks of the Quadalupe river flow thru, one right in the middle.
There is even a KOA close by with diesel at $2.99 as of this writing. That is by far the cheapest I've seen for a week.
With Good Sam $37.00

It's $25/night for shaded FHU sites at the Kerrville city-owned campground (a former state park). If you are a fisherman, you can even get sites that back up to the Guadalupe River for that price. We were just there in February and have stayed there multiple times.
