Never imagined in a million years I'd be taking the skin of a camper let alone mine. LOL

The cab over section is drooping so after getting an estimate I decided to fix it myself. 😄

Just got started today. This ought to be a lot of fun. (insert rolling eyes)

I've lost a lot of ambition already. LOL

I am going to more than I had decided after I decided that I wasn't going to do as much as I had originally decided. LOL

Does that make any sense at all?? :h

I rebuilt most of a 1990 S&S 11.5SC, it started out as a reseal and just blossomed from there. While at it I did "upgrades" to make it more livable and better suited to our needs. Check the lower rear corners...alot of mine needed to be replaced. Have fun!

It gets worse before it gets better... but then it become awesome. When we started the rot removal on our TC... we had to replace 1 of the 2 main beams that basically cantilever the cabover. With having to replace that beam, the camper became a “total” re-build. Here’s me standing where the kitchen used to be. Keep up the faith. You can do it.

As luck would have it we're doing the same type of rebuild now. We have a 2001 Lance that had some soft inside paneling under the drivers side front window. I took the paneling out from the inside and peeled the siding back past the window.
Looks like the wood under and in front of that window needs replaced. We also went ahead took out the front window and peeled back all of the side on the front and underneath. The top board above the window was powder.
Today I took out the wall where the window was located. I'll start building a new wall for that area tomorrow and then start building the side wall after that.

That's really what I need to do to mine but I want to start using it sooner than the time it would take me to do that much work to it.

I can put my camper in here during the winter to do that. Right now its sitting outside.

I'm pretty sure I'm just going to fix the immediate problem of the sagging and do a major overhaul next winter.

One thing about the foam board like the blue foam at Lowes is it is a closed cell so won't absorb water. This means any water that gets in, will run out quicker. Fibergrlass loses it's insulation property when it gets wet, takes a long time to dry out, but never regains it's insulation property. Plus, when snugly fit, the foam board adds a lot of strength.

Not so sure I want the added work to remove the window. I sleep with my head on the other end facing the inside of the camper.

I sure appreciate the heads up on the insulation.

Thank you

That's awesome Mote - the more I get into it the less interest I have. LOL

I wanted a Lance camper when I first started looking.

The problem is the opening at the tailgate of my truck is only 59" and it needs to be at least 60".

I don't have the money for a newer Lance that will fit my truck.

Oh well, live and learn. LOL
