Boondocking ban Prince George.

The Treasure Cover casino in Prince George will be putting a ban in place against boondockers. They say because of construction and expansion of the show lounge parking will be at a premium.

Plenty of places in North America where Walmart and other big box, large parking lot owners are required by local ordinance to post "no overnight parking" signage. Many of those locations have zero interest in enforcing those signs, and/or local law enforcement that could care less. If I pull into a lot that obviously has several RVs that are set up to spend the night, I have no interest in what signs are posted in that case. My favorite sign was somewhere outside of Skagway, heading toward the AK. highway. I pulled off the road in the middle of the night, too tired to go on. The family headed back to the trailer for a few hours of sleep. In the morning I swung the door open, and was face to face with a "no overnight parking, $XX fine" sign. I then discovered that I was parked a few hundred feet away from a provincial campground, LOL. Like Grit Dog correctly notes, once you heading north, with PG in the mirror, there are countless places to boondock ahead.

Fortunately, there is a whole lot of nothing just outside PG, so boondocking opportunities are endless, even if the local Wallyworld won't allow it...

We've found that when a Walmart Supercenter is located in a shared parking lot environment, with neighboring big box store parking adjacent to it, that the signs for overnight parking can be confusing. We've seen plenty of NO OVERNIGHT PARKING signs at the entrances to the other adjacent stores parking areas, but the Walmart designated area is usually wide open, no prohibitive signage.
In that situation, we've never been refused or asked to leave. We always do a thorough recon of the entrances to the Walmart specific parking area. If we see even one sign that looks like it belongs to Walmart specific parking, we move on.

IIRC, the Walmart in PG has NO OVERNIGHTING signs. However, last time I was through there, there were about a dozen or so campers in the parking lot. I pulled in but left when I saw all the signs. Went to a local CG.

Thanks for the update. I thought the Walmart was open to overnight, but we passed through there in the mid-afternoon and didn't really look for signage.
IIRC the parking lot at the casino wasn't very big to start with, so we probably wouldn't have stayed there anyway. Met a guy there in a Roadtrek that had just come down the Cassiar, and we talked road conditions and so on.
Yes, the Flying J might be the smallest one in existence with any sort of regular amenities, like a store and showers. It's tiny.

Good to know.
So it's find a commercial campground (are there any?) or keep driving, I guess.

WalMart is out, I believe by city ordinance. The truck stop in the BCR industrial paark may be available but you would have to check with them and it will be noisy.

Can you still do a one-nighter at the Walmart or the Flying J?
Any other local options?
