Curt Q24 or B&W Companion 20

Ok, I am looking at replacing my reese 16k hitch I haven't been happy with it and had a couple issues, plus it is the older model that requires the picture frame for my ford puck system.

With this in mind I am also thinking of the future and how we are planning to move to a bigger trailer in the next couple years, one that may push the 20k limit. So I have looked at the B&W but I only see it in 20k. also looked at the Curt Q24k. The curt is cheaper but I'm not sold on it. I know every B&W fanboy will say nothing is better, but does anybody have the curt and if so have you been happy with it? did it help with some of the chucking?

^^I'm sure a call to B&W would give a factual answer, but I've read that the ARMS on the 3305 are thicker & wider. I've also noticed that you can buy the 3305 base, to update a 20K to 25K, and base comes with included arms.

That was a fun thread for sure! Should have been a sticky! 🙂

Don't remember the OP ever coming back, after using his new hitch?

I don't remember when B&W introduced the 3305 25K rated, but had to have been soon after this thread.

I am wondering if B&W did anything structurally or just bumped the rating. They told me they rated to the lowest denominator and that was the attachment points.

We have not had a good hitch comparison for a while. Kinda fun to look back 5 years.

Where I work we are getting rid of the B&W Companion hitches in favor of the Curt. Seems the pin holding the B&W closed is not fool-proof and a couple of trailers have unhitched. I looked at the new B&W on one of our trucks and can't believe there isn't a locking feature other than the pin holding the handle closed. Sure seems like a very poor design. I've been using Curt hitches in my own truck for many years without any bad issues.

Give me a break. ONLY thing that could happen is someone wanting to cause problems is removing the pin.

Simple fix that I would think any RV hauler would use is a SIMPLE padlock!

I think your story has more to do with the cost difference.

I've always been a quality kind of guy! See my pic, posts/review of my new Dewalt air compressor over in the Tech forum. Here's a few others, Yamaha, Honda, Browning, Ruger, and Ford, just to name a few. I do try to promote, without ruffling any feathers.

doesn't matter , UPS just brought me a gift and while I cant compare it the the curt I can say the B&W build blows away the reese I have!

The quality welding, and powder coat finish, makes you feel like you got a truck bed queen.:C Next you'll notice the easy install, wife probably already put it in! Now comes the easy hookup/disconnect at any angle. You will enjoy the quiet tow, and lastly, don't forget to post a pic of it, in the back of that top quality truck.

Extra $200??? Yup, you already forgot about it, when you opened the box.:B
