Government Shutdown update! BLM Yuma Field Office Director John McDonald told Desert Messenger that he was "just given his marching orders." He said the water and septic dump station in La Posa South is now closed. Campers will be allowed to stay, but no further permits will be issued at this time. Registration shacks are closed. Volunteers will not be officially on duty. Dump services are available in Quartzsite. Mobile services allowed to continue to operate on BLM lands. Pack it in. Pack it out. Please do not dump in the desert.

At 10 min per that's a long wait.

We just drove through the LTVA south of Q. The dump is still open as of 11:00am Sunday morning. Not sure about water. The line up is long. About 15 waiting when we drove by.

Wow good to know since we only really ever need water...We had to leave yesterday due to "Home" issue but have 20 great friends still there that will be heading for water in a day or so. Thanks for the heads up.

This is the word from up on top:

"DIRECTOR MULVANEY: Whatโ€™s different? Itโ€™s different. Parks will be open this time, and they werenโ€™t before. Letโ€™s go down the list. The parks will be open. The way it works is that the parks are open, but the โ€” especially if the services are provided by third parties, but things like the trash wonโ€™t get picked up. Fannie and Freddie will be open. The Post Office will be open. The TSA will be open.

But again, all of these people will be working for nothing, which is simply not fair. We are going to manage the shutdown differently. We are not going to weaponize it. Weโ€™re not going to try and hurt people, especially people who happen to work for this federal government. But we still need Congress to appropriate the funds."
