Should I keep my trailer plugged in all winter. Or should I unplug it for awhile and shut off the battery disconnect. Don't want to have to take out the batteries to hard to get at the trailer with the snow piled up against the front compartment. Its a 2014 Lincoln rushmore

yes, it all depends on the converter/charger..... a multiple stage high amp charger (something similar to the progressive dynamic charger/converters) can be plugged in full time when connected to a battery... and this will also allow for a a couple of small heaters with a "freeze-proof" setting to be kept plugged in all the time, to keep at least a minimum of heat around the plumbing areas when the temps drop down to freezing.

a quality multiple stage charger can significantly increase the life of the battery over what you will get when using a single stage unit...

So do you all have some sort of surge protectors you use? I burned up AC brain and a couple other switches two years ago leaving her plugged in all the time, when a storm blew through. Just turn on for an hour or so a couple times each month now.

I leave our Cedar Creek plugged in year round. Come spring the battery will start its 6th year of service. I told the wife last year that we should probably replace it but it lasted all year with no issues. I am still up in the air as top weather or not I should risk another year.

When the camper is home I connect to 110 to keep battery charged, at the end of the season I remove the battery from the trailer and put it in the garage, check water levels then attach a Battery Tender until spring arrives, then reinstall. Never have had to replace a battery yet.

We are on our second 5th wheel since '05. Both have been plugged in 24/7 since new. The first ones battery lasted over 9 years. The second one is plugged in now in the midwest deep freeze. Both units had and have a stock converter. I can't argue with success.

Just because of possible theft I prefer to pull my 2 x 6v batts in the fall. Put them on a Deltran battery tender a few times over the winter and then check fluids/reinstall in the spring. I don't use it during the winter so powering the system is a waste of $ during that time.

We have the multi-stage chargers as well, but....we put it on a timer to charge for an hour daily. I donโ€™t fully trust the charger, to โ€œnotโ€ overcharge the batteries....so I use the timer. If you donโ€™t have the multi-stage charger, I would certainly recommend the timer, โ€œit doesnโ€™t forget.....you mightโ€!
